Some small dark spots and handling marks to boards, scratch to rear of vol.1. Endpapers clean. Frontis plates darkened and foxed with darkening to adjacent title pages. Some mild foxing to prelims in other volumes. One or two minor handling marks and some occasional minor foxing spots to inside pages else pages all very clean, bright and tight throughout. Later editions. Hardcover 8vos., uniformly bound by Blackwell in 3/4 cherry morocco with marbled boards, raised bands, gilt titles and design, teg. All volumes profusely illustrated with tissue-covered copper and wood engravings. Very Good overall. Light wear to the raised bands and tips of the leather bindings; the leather and hinges are bright, fresh and intact. Occasional foxing throughout, but mostly constrained to the margins and blank sides of the plates. Bookplate of the former owner, R. Percy Alden, on the front pastedown of each volume.
