A binding copy, the front and back covers are barely attached to the book, the lower half of the spine is lacking, a few pages at the back probably need to be resewn to properly attach them the the rest of the book, there is some writing and numbers on three of the blank preliminary pages, there are no blank pages or endpapers at the back, and the title page is somewhat soiled, though readable. The paging is erratic, but the book is complete. The pages of the book are relatively clean.. Second Edition, with Many Additions. Full Leather. Good. 4to - over 9 3/4" - 12" Tall.

This copy is complete despite the jump in pagination after page 107 ; it corresponds with that in the British Library. Internally very good subject to moderate browning, some fraying to the fep and fairly inoffensive evidence of moisture to the edges of the first few leaves. Hinges cracked although binding still holding. Cover, which looks to be contemporary, rather worn. The boards scuffed with wear to the edges and corners. The ornate spine has significant wear to both extremities. Scans available.

"Of all the seventeenth-century writers on surveying, William Leybourn probably exerted a greater influence on the practicing surveyor than any other, with the possible exception of John Love. Leybourn's first contribution to surveying was a short pamphlet, Pantometria or the Whole Art of Surveying, published in London in 1650 and written under the pseudonym of Oliver Wallinsby. This little tract proved so popular that Leybourn was prompted to enlarge it, and in London in 1653 he published [the present work] which passed through four editions in the seventeenth century and a revised edition in the first half of the eighteenth century...… Leer más
