GB: Routledge, 1904. A set of 29 volumes (not known if complete) uniformly bound in green leather with five raised bands and lettered in gold on spines. Green marbled endpapers. All edges gold. Published about 1904 but most undated (see below). Most volumes have the bookplate of John B. Body. The spines are uniformly sunned/browned not affecting lettering but present extremely well. The books approach near Fine throughout although there is occasional spotting in the text. Fourteen volumes. Edward George Earl Bulwer-Lytton was an English novelist, playwright, and politician. One of the greatest novelists of his day, Bulwer-Lytton"s literary career began in 1820, with the publication of his first book of poems, and continued throughout the nineteenth century. He wrote in a variety of genres, including historical fiction, mystery, romance, the occult and science fiction, offering a fascinating insight into the Victorian era. In 1828 he attracted general attention with Pelham, an intimate study of the dandyism of the age that kept gossips busy in identifying the characters with the leading men of the time.
