The dustwrapper, which is price-clipped, is complete and untorn and is now protected in a clear, removable sleeve. Board tips a little bumped. Some fore-edge foxing but a clean copy internally. Ownership inscription on front free end-paper. Pp.xl,623 + errata page. 4 full-page illustrations. This is a reprint of the first edition of 1903. A detailed history of the Outer Hebrides together with material on fishing, trade and commerce, agriculture, emigration, natural history geology etc.

Dedication penned to FEP reads: "To John Hugh Munro Mackenzie on his fifty-first birthday, the twenty-ninth August 1976. From his son Charles. Scaliscro Lodge, Vig, 1976." Boards are tanned at spine and along edges, with faint markings to front and to rear. Spine is lightly cocked and page block faintly foxed and faintly marked. Text is clean throughout. AD. Hardcover.
