Frontispiece, extra vignette title page, small octavo, folding map, pp xvi, 388, [+ 44 page publisher's catalogue dated August 1875], fore-edge slightly foxed, rather age-toned and a bit used internally with several turned corners, name and address on the front endpaper, which is also a bit marked, possibly re-cased at some point ?, decorated cloth, rather rubbed and worn, a bit marked and bleached. [SCARCE]. Decorative Cloth. Fair.

Frontispiece, extra vignette title page, small octavo, folding map (a bit foxed, together with the adjoining pages), pp xvi, 388, fore-edge foxed, a long inscription on front endpaper, page 99/100 has a small corner folded (no loss) by a production fault, decorated cloth, slight wear, the spine darkened, but overall quite a good copy. [SCARCE. The cover describes this as "with illustrations", but the frontispiece and map are all that are required.]. Decorative Cloth. Very Good.

London: Routledge, Warne, and Routledge, 1860. Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Hardcover, original red cloth with spine lettered in gilt. Three ads in front with nine pages of publisher ads in rear. Large foldout map attached as frontis. Map has about a 1" tear where it attaches at the top. No repairs or marks on map. Only handwriting found in book is a "ML #7" written in pencil on front pastedown, which can easily be eased, and on the ffep there was a price written in pencil long ago in the upper right corner which has been erased but here are still shadows of the numbers present. Binder's logo stamp on rear pastedown in corner. Spotting present on spine where a label is still partially present and there is both a white and a black spot on the front board. Small blowout at top edge of spine as well. See photos. Preface is dated November 24, 1859 and is entitled "Preface of the Ninth Edition".
