Bound in blue cloth, lettered and decorated in yellow and black. Top page edges blue. Binding a little worn, corners and spine tips rubbed. Page edges toned with light spotting. Ex Libris book plate and owner's neat inscription to front endpapers. Paper lightly toned. Minor spotting to front and back matter. A row of ink dots to top edge of a few illustration pages. Original mauve pictorial boards blocked in yellow and black. Gift inscription on front pastedown. Spine a little marked and faded. Small indentation in cloth of spine. Very good.

London: John Lane, 1907. First edition. Cloth. Good Only. 10" by 8". None. A beautifully illustrated first edition of Robertson's poem for a little girl. Signed " Phyllis Parker from the author 1908" Twelve plates in colour by the author. Robertson was part of the talented group of artists and illustrators who flourished in London in the 1890's and he claimed to have been influenced by Crane and the Glasgow school, something that is clearly evident in the illustrations in this work. The work is essentially a poem, written as a play for a young one year old child. In a cloth binding. Externally, a trifle rubbed with loss to corners and backstrip detached with some loss. Fading to rear board. Front joint starting but firm. Ink inscription to front free end-paper. Internally, firmly bound with light foxing to first and last couple of pages, otherwise bright and clean. A magnificent book.

In very good condition with very good dustwrapper. (DW tanned, spine rubbed and faded, a couple of nicks and small edges tears to spine ends and corners. Some small foxing spots. Tear with small hole on front. In protective sleeve.) Cover is very clean and smart, some minor rubbing to ends of spine. Some minor tanning and light spots to endpapers. No penned inscriptions. Some small dark foxing spots around outer page edges. Else inside pages and plates all very clean, bright and tight throughout. 152pp + 8pp cat. Illustrated with 12 full-page colour plates by the author.
