Blue cloth printed in gilt, 159 pages plus plates. Covers worn with spine chipped and separating from text block, hinges internally cracked but secure, text block sound but no longer firm, pages and background of plates age-toned, otherwise clean with no names or other markings. The plate opposite page 72 is absent, and the plate opposite page 112 has been removed with the background page cut down to a smaller size and loosely laid in in the correct place. The frontis tissue is detached but present, one other tissue chipped. All other plates present and in very good condition. . Hard Cover. Fair. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

The binding has been rebacked - relaying the original spine and endpapers, so it is nice and tight. There is some bumping to the front top corner and the back board corners. The binding is very clean with some fading and browning to the spine. The original decorative endpapers are free of inscriptions - there is a little grubbiness - the back free endpaper has had a sheet of music pasted to the reverse - the music contains the motifs to Siegfried, the ring and other relevant sections. There is an ink inscription to a preliminary 'To Elizabeth for her "seventeenth" birthday - from Daddy and Mummie with our best love 19 Aug'. Bound in full red leather decorated in gilt, all edges gilt, silk moire endpapers. Laid in loose are the Collector's Notes and unusused Easton Press bookplate.
