Butler Brothers was not a publisher but rather a retail/wholesale operation established in 1877 (Wikipedia) that supplied "5&10" cent stores. There is a stamp from "C.S. Woolworth's Variety Store, Scranton, Pa." inside the cover. There is also an article about the benefits of such a mercantile at the back of the book. Brown boards w/ a black decorative design and the author's name in a gilt square on spine in very good condition considering its age: usual signs of wear along edges and spine but otherwise the cover is solid. Binding tight. Text block in solid condition; age-related discoloration. No writing, highlighting, or marks in text except for gift inscription dated 1888. viii, 536 pp.

Condition: Good; edge-wear to the boards and spine ends. The spine is faded. Minor soiling to the boards. The residue of a label. The interior is clean without markings except for the previous owner's name. Slight hinge weakness. Page edges age gilted. 620 pages. Decorated with gilt lettering and design to spine and front boards. Undated circa 1900.

TURNER FOR SCOTT'S POETICAL WORKS. Each part comprises a title-page and 12 engravings after Turner on fine, thick wove paper. Oblong 8vo. Bound in contemporary quarter calf and decorated boards. Binding lightly worn at extremities, but completely solid and still attractive. Some light foxing, mainly marginal, affecting several plates. Overall very good. Most sets were broken up or intercalated into editions of Scott's poetry, and thus complete sets like this one are of the greatest rarity. No copies in WorldCat.
