Original gilt lettered blue buckram cloth (a little rubbed at edges - otherwise VG), dustwrappers (small tears and creases at edges and partial loss at top corner of upper cover of vol III - in protective wrappers fused to covers, not price clipped). Pp. various, illus with coloured and b&w plates, diagrams and distribution maps (previous owner's card on front paste-down of vol I; no inscriptions).

Witherby,, 1938-1941. 5 vols., 8vo., First Edition, with 147 coloured plates containing many hundreds of illustrations; original dark blue buckram, gilt backs, rose tops, a very good, bright, clean set in unclipped, very lightly dust-soiled dustwrapper. 'Witherby' remained the standard reference for almost half a century.
