Publisher's cream cloth with blue spine lettering and a blue kanji on the front, patterned endpapers. Upper tips a bit bumped and a small transparent stain to part of upper front board. A very good copy with a fine original drawing.Tato Yashima inscribed the half title in 1967 and next to it is a color drawing of a village fisherman with his Yashima's red seal on the bottom. A lovely original drawing by Yashima.

The copyright page states First Published by the Viking Press, Inc. 1967 with no other dates or editons listed. Yashima signed this book simply as "with best wishes- Author, Taro Yashima followed by Japanese characters and his personal stamp which is in red on the half-title page. Also on the half-title page Yashima has included a color drawing of a fisherman in his artistic style of this book's illustrations and it is dated Aug. 1970 or 1973. On the blank page facing the half-title page the author has written: To, Grace, Joyce & Margaret. The dust jacket is not price clipped, but does have numerous nicks along its edges. Additionally the dust jacket has a piece missing at the top edge of the spine of approximately .75" x .50" and at the bottom edge a piece is missing of about the same… Leer más
