This appears to be a reprint; the original title page is provided following the title page of this volume: The Spectator, No. 556, Friday, June 18, 1714. No editor is identified, although possibly the editors are Addison and Steele. Binding is sound. Pages are tanned, with heavy reading wear, some dampstaining, wear to corners and edges. Boards are missing entirely, although the worn leather spine is attached securely. Daily English publication. Although it had a small circulation, it was widely known and widely read. ; 6.75" (17 cm) tall; 317 pages.

'The Spectator' was a daily publication from the early Eighteenth Century. This copy, given its age, is in contented and comfortable condition. The leather cover is much worn and marked and scuffed. It is secure and benign. Within, there is age related foxing throughout. However, the pages are mild, clear, assured, utterly companionable, with a presence and perception that rings agreeable even now. A sure book. fk. Vellum covered boards with gilt spine title and decoration, marbled endpapers and page edges, the vellum is pulling front the interior of the boards causing some cracking to the endpapers.
