A FIRST EDITION, first printing, from 1936, this large 4to (10 x 13") is bound in decorative yellow cloth, which shows a heavy dampstain to spine & spotting/soil/fading to both boards. Despite these external flaws, it is internally very clean, binding secure (though stitching is loosening in places), both hinges intact. Pages creamy white with age-appropriate tanning to all edges. This is a new edition - the original Heritage Press Mother Goose was published in 1936, and then reprinted in 1938 and 1940. This edition contains a new format and an entirely new set of drawings by Roger Duvoisin. The book and its contents are in clean, bright condition. The text pages are mostly clean and bright, though there are spots of foxing on occasional pages. The dust jacket has edge wear, nicking and several edge tears along with a few small to smallish edge chips. Both the spine and flap joints show moderate rubbing.
