Noticeable foxing and moderate tanning to pages. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Pen inscription to front free endpaper. Light cracking and creasing to gutters but binding remains firm. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with soft rubbing, splitting and crushing to ends. Gilt lettering is slightly darkened. Book has a slight forward lean.

Externally worn, with most of spine covering missing (one portion remains but is detached), edges worn. Good joints/hinges, firm text block, clean pages with some light age-toning, no noted chips or tears, some dampstaining to the frontis illustrations and engraved titles, some dampstaining to the top margin of the last fifty leaves or so, private library sticker on front pastedown. Reading copy.. Hard Cover. Fair. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.

Exeter, NH: J. & B. Williams, 1833. First Edition . Hardcover. Good. Both volumes are good in original blue cloth-covered boards with leather labels. Both volumes have rubbing and spotting on the boards, wear at the extremities, and indications of being part of the Huntington Library Association complete with card pockets and date sheeets on the rear endpapers. Volume one has a dampstain on the first 120 pages. Rubberstamp on the title-page of volume one are personal ownership signature dated 1834 on volume two. These are, perhaps, not the most lovely volumes, but the are definitely uncommon in any condition.
