Four pair of pages have a darkened rectangle where something of low-quality paper was stored between them; some tannong on the fore edges in the same area. Pages clean and unmarked. Dust jacket has overall surface rubbing, chipped and nicked edges, and small tears. Dust jacket spine quite sunned. Carefully packed, shipped in a box.

Armstrong and Berry, 1839-01-01. Leather Bound. Acceptable. Leather bound in poor condition with substantial wear. No publication year given, but probably c. 1830-1839, published in Baltimore by Armstrong & Berry. Spine cover separating from front cover, red mark on front cover, portions of spine cover missing from tips of spine. Foxing and staining on title and index pages, but all text pages intact and unmarked. Small antique note tucked inside indicates that this copy is from a private lending library, but there are no other library markings.

Boston: Otis, Broaders, and Company, 1847. Whiston's translation of the Jewish historian remained the standard for two centuries. "To Which are Added Three Disertations, Concerning Jesus Christ, John the Baptist, James the Just, God's Command to Abraham. etc." This is a Very Good (Minus) copy of the First Edition Thus (which seems to have been printed by several publishers in the mid-19th Century). Green cloth binding, stamped in the blind, faded to brown on the spine; Gilt lettering and decorative scrollwork on the spine. Clean text; 880 pages, only mildly foxed. Corners are bumped and there is rubbing to head and foot of spine. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First Thus.. Hard Cover. Very Good Minus/No Jacket.

Covers are rubbed w/cracking and couple tears to spine edges, small chips along top spine edge, corners of covers lightly bumped, writing inside covers, pages mildly toning and foxing w/small tears and creases, some light moisture marks and dirt soiling, edges of the 2 illustration pages that are between pages 68-69 extend beyond other pages and have some tiny chips and tears along the edges ; 648 pages .

Complete in One Volume with Portrait and Engravings;" 648 p., clean and completely unmarked except for gift inscription on front end paper; two tables on one page, the only one that has a corner turned down; paper strong and only very mildly age-toned though with some foxing; darkening of edges of front paste-down probably due to insert that was removed; binding firm; leather binding much scuffed, and portions on lower spine have have fallen off board, but gilt lettering remains and is clear.

Frontispiece portrait engraving plus two engraved plates with two images each: Jerusalem in 1817 and High Priest on first, Golden Candlesticks and Solomon's Temple on second plate. Contains table of the Jewish weights, Measures, etc. and particularly those mentioned in Josephus's works. Eighteen page index at rear with two tables.
