According to the archives of the Poetry Center, this reading took place in 1977 at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, then located on Van Ness Avenue. Helen Adam (1909-1993), influential Scottish-American poet, collagist, actress (in two experimental films), and photographer, was born in Glasgow, and attended Edinburgh University. She wrote her first book in 1923, and became a journalist; she moved to the United States in 1939, where she lived for the rest of her life (in San Francisco and later New York City). Unfolded advertisement for the first, and it turns out only, screening of this film by Adam and McNeill at Robin Blaser’s Peacock Gallery. Illustrated with four stills, two on each side. A rare bit of ephemera from this experimental space, that existed for all of a month.
