Descripción:
Lexington: Henry Clay Press Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). 1968. Revised Edition, 16mo, 48pp, illustrated. VG in VG slipcase. Inscribed and signed by the author, "Very truly yours/J. Winston Coleman, Jr." Coleman was one of Kentucky's foremost historians. From his foreword: "Lexington occupied a unique position in the War Between the States. Nowhere were families more divided, or sentiments so mixed. Both of the Civil War presidents, Lincoln and Davis, were Kentuckians, and each had a fond affection for the city. Lincoln married Mary Todd of Lexington, and Davis spent three years as a student at Transylvania. Though Lexington was occupied by Federal forces during most of the war, the city fell into Confederate hands three times.".
