Partial Magazine Article; comprehensive Fawcett edition later: Interpretive journalism presented by author James Michener as he re-created the Ohio college campus series of student protest events in the spring 1970, during which National Guardsmen killed 4 students, wounding others, during a anti-Vietnam protest gathering. Gathering details brought together numerous town and gown individuals, including journalism students. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michener then went to Kent to coordinate the details into a full report. He first kept a low profile for 10 days in the community to get a better sense of people and place. This condensed reprint is Part I of two magazine installments.
