Dust jacket, now in a clear plastic archival cover, is chipped, soiled and edge worn, with open tears at the top and bottom of the spine and a few smaller ones elsewhere (see photo). Name & date written on the front end page. Text is unmarked. Page ends are lightly soiled with three small bored holes. Strong binding. NOT ex-library.

More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Pen inscriptions to front pastedown and free endpaper. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Gilt lettering is darkened. Moderate sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Minor wear marks to boards.

Some sun spotting/darkening. Contents are clean and bright. Author also previously published 'Kabloona' , a narrative about the Canadian Arctic. 'Home is the Hunter' by Gontran de Poncins. Author was from a highly privileged background but his life took him in different directions including at one time, living in China. Not exlib and packed and sent with care.
