Blue coloured cloth covered boards with self embossed illustration to the front panel and gilt coloured titles and decoration to the backstrip. Gilt to the top text edge. Illustrated dustwrapper, same illustration as for the underlying board. Blue coloured title and illustration. Title says it all. Rubbing of the backstrip corners and of the book corners. Some flecking of the lower edge of the front panel. Light tanning and even lighter foxing of the textblock edges. A little offset tanning and faint foxing to the end pages with previous owners name to the top edge of the free front end page. Age toning of the pages. The dustwrapper is in disrepair  please see photograph. The backstrip is completely missing. XVI, 105 pages, includes five full page black-and-white photographs from the production, and three songs from the Opera with their musical scoring. The book itself is in good order aside from a slight foxing of the cloth; the dustwrapper is missing a segment approximately 2 in. by 1 in. from the bottom righthand corner of the back panel, and on the spine, it is rubbed, and chipped and creased. Russell Flint. 54 pages, list of colour plates, original cast for first production in 1888. Coloured Illustrated frontispiece by W. Russell Flint, and there are another seven full coloured plates within the text. Brown coloured boards with gilt-decorated -- ornate wreathed armorial border, and gilt writing on the front panel and spine. Gilt decoration on has also been applied to the spine. Bumping and rubbing to the head and to the heel of the spine and a little rubbing to the book corners. The cloth of the board has become rubbed and marked but surprisingly the gilt illustration on the front board is still bright and crisp, to a large degree, though the gilt on the spine has faded.
