Black-and-white illustrations. Photos of both artists. Alexander Calder (1898-1976) was an American sculptor known his innovative mobiles, his static stabiles, and his monumental public sculptures. Naum Gabo (1890-1977) was a key figure in the development of twentieth-century sculpture. He is known for his small reliefs and constructions, monumental public sculpture and pioneering kinetic works that assimilated new materials.

Like many of the other Fluxus artists, he studied composition with John Cage. His most notable contributions include "Danger Music" scores and the use of the term "intermedia" to describe the ineffable interdisciplinary activities that became prevalent in the 1960s.
