Blue cloth cover with gilt lettering on spine has rubbing at edges of boards and spine ends. The corners are bumped. There are no tears or frayed areas. Gilt lettering on spine is faded and darkened. Binding is sound with the exception that several inches of the lower end of the glue line of the first four tipped in plates has loosened (could easily be repaired). Front free endpaper has a very neat inscription in black ink titled "Kriegsweihnachten-1943" followed by a unit designation "....Sturmkompanie-Paris", and lower down on the page the signature block and signature of the company commander. Kriegsweihnachten (war Christmas) was an important celebration in the German and other armies and was formally celebrated with a dinner and exchange of gifts. This book may have been such a gift. The author, Karl Boemer was Leiter der Presseabteilung des Aussenpolitischen Amtes of the Nazi party. The book is an analysis of foreign press reports about the Nazi party, its policy, and its leaders. It contains numerous political cartoons from the foreign press.
