In 1929, Moore, a professor at Cornell University, published this book on education philosophy and on the need to teach citizenship as a part of American students' education and as essential as mathematics or english. This copy is a scarce first edition. About 5 1/4 x 7 1/2, 320 pages in dark green cloth-covered boards with gold lettering on spine. Boards show light wear along edges and spine ends, corners worn and lightly bumped. Previous owner's name on fep, text edges lightly soiled, o/w boards and text are clean, complete and unmarked. No tears, no creasing, no significant flaws or damage. A very decent, first edition copy of a teacher's manual which notes, "Less than two centuries ago there was no such thing as an American citizen. The title of this oversized, lavishly-illustrated volume by Welsh, a noted military historian, might better have used "concise" rather than "complete."
