He covered the Spanish Civil War and published a political newsletter, In Fact, in the 1940s; one of the first articles concerned the link between cigarettes and cancer. He was accused of being a communist during the McCarthy hearings in the 1950s and subsequently blacklisted. Seldes lived to be 104; he appears in the film 'Reds' as a commentator. Previous owner's name stamped on tail edges, a little wear to edges. Dustjacket has tears and chipping.
