Tributes to Peter by 21 of his book trade colleagues. Included is "indomitable" by William Matthews. Contributions by Martin Stone, Eric Korn, Jeff Towns, Taylor Bowie, James Pepper, Ken Sanders, Charles Seluzicki, many others. Typography by Alastair Johnston, Poltroon Press.

London: Faber and Faber, (1955). First edition. Green cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Small ownership name in pen on front fly leaf, but a fine copy in a slightly worn dust jacket, small stain to upper front panel, and a bit of darkening to the spine. A partly unopened copy.

Dublin: Peppercanister, (1972). First edition.. Red boards, black spine lettered in silver. Black end papers. Clear glassine dust jacket, a fine copy. This is copy #37 of 125 signed and numbered copies, signed by Kinsella on the limitation leaf.

A Cabinet Card / Cabinet Photograph of poet Richard Hovey, ca. 1890s. This is a photo of Hovey mounted on a stiff card measuring 4.25 x 6.5 inches. Photographer is M.J. Steffens, Chicago. Small stain to lower corner, not affecting image, very good condition. Written in pen on the reverse, in an unknown hand: "Richard Hovey the poet." Hovey was a romantic poet of the late 19th century, who collaborated with Bliss Carman. He appears in this photo in a decorative doorway. Hovey, who fancied himself an American Oscar Wilde, was a lecturer on aesthetics, and an English professor.

[Berkeley]: Sand Dollar, 1972. Second Edition.. Decorative wrappers, spine lettered in black. Of an edition of 2600, this is one of 2000 in wrappers. First published in 1955, this 1972 Second Edition is expanded. Corner bumped, a clean very good copy.

Issued as Number Three of The Colt Press Series of "California Classics". A fine copy in the plain green dust jacket, which is quite faded and has a few tears. An essay first printed in 1852.

Wrappers a bit spotted, a bit of wear to corners, small bookplate and ownership signature, a clean very good copy. This compilation contains contributions by Frederick Schiller Faust [aka "Max Brand"], Sidney Coe Howard, others. Very scarce.

NY: Bowling Green Press, 1928. First edition. . Gray boards, gray-blue cloth spine designed and lettered in silver. Printed by Rudge, limited to 600 copies. Bookplate on inner front cover, University library gift label on front fly leaf (slight wrinkling), otherwise a nice clean copy. Signed by De La Mare

West Branch: Cummington Press, 1966. . Plain gray wrappers, printed title label on upper front cover. Some foxing of early and late leaves as usual, edges slightly bumped, but a fine copy. The colophon states that 125 copies were printed, but apparently only 100 were produced.

The author: 1974. . First separate edition of this poem. White wrappers, stapled, lettered in black on front cover, black & red on back cover. "This is the title poem from Christmas In Africa ... This edition is limited to 100 copies, hand-bound, numbered, and signed by the author". This looks to be the text from the Heinemann collection, hand numbered, signed and bound. The back has been a bit damp, and the lettering is blurred; the staples have rusted somewhat, very good otherwise. An uncommon author-published booklet.

West Branch, Iowa: Toothpaste Press, 1980. First edition. Oblong boards, printed paper label on front cover. Slight fading of cloth, but a fine copy. On an edition of 1200, this is one of 200 bound in hard covers, signed by the author and artist.

NY: Knopf, 1923. First American edition. Green cloth, spine lettered in gilt, front cover designed and lettered in gilt. Frontispiece in color, and numerous illustrations throughout, many are full-page. Top edge gilt. Slight dust soiling, a nice bright copy. Quite a handsome book. The British edition was published in 1921, and was illustrated by a different artist, Randolph Schwabe.

Modern Language Notes, January, 1948. A 4-page offprint, on two leaves, stapled. Twice folded, very good condition. Inscribed by Bronson in pencil on the first page, "For Albert, affectionately / B..;d." This short piece on Shakespeare's songs from Love's Labour's Lost appeared in Modern Language Notes, January, 1948, pages 35 - 38. This is evidently an offprint prepared for the author, as the first and last pages contain only the text of his piece, not any of the other text as it appeared in the periodical. From the Bronson collection distributed by Serendipity Books some years ago.

Winston-Salem, NC: Wake Forest University Press, 1984. First edition. . Original tan printed wrappers, sewn. Small ownership signature to inner front cover, a fine copy. A keepsake, limited to 275 copies "privately printed by Richard Murdoch for distribution by Wake Forest University Press as a keepsake at the XXII Annual Meeting of the American Committee For Irish Studies. May 1984". This copy is signed with a short inscription by Heaney at his contribution (Hailstones); also signed at their contributions by Maire Mhac an tSaoi, Derek Mahon, and Tom Paulin.

Inverness: Printed at the Northern Chronicle Office, 1929. Pale yellow printed wrappers, stapled. 16 pages. Cup ring on cover, some light chipping to corners, a very good copy. Also known as "The Clanranald Bard" or "The Great Bard", Macdonald lived from c.1698 - 1770.
