Armorial bookplate on front paste down. Publishers original blue cloth binding. Boards with bevelled edges. Small gilt stamped publishers device to front board. Spine ruled and lettered in gilt. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Minor rubbing and darkening to the cloth edges but overall a very good copy.

The Hogarth Press. London. 1959. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. Frontispiece and line drawings throughout by John Ward. A fine copy in recent binding of full green morocco. Spine with raised bands, ruled and lettered in gilt. Top edge gilt. A lovely, fine copy of this classic account of country life in the Cotswolds between the wars.

William Heinemann and The Bodley Head. London. 1969 - 1982. 23 Volumes - Complete. FIRST EDITIONS and First printings of all volumes in this collected edition. --- Volume 1, Brighton Rock, is inscribed and signed by Graham Greene on the front free endpaper; - "For Doctor A. D. Thomson from Graham Greene." Publishers dark green cloth bindings with gilt ruling and lettering to the spines and grey endpapers. A fine set of books in very good dustwrappers, designed by Michael Harvey with some toning to the spines and a small amount of rubbing to extremities. Some volumes have a neat previous owner name on the front free endpaper and four of the wrappers nave been neatly price-clipped. A very good set with the added bonus of Greene's signature and inscription in Brighton Rock. Collected essays was issued in 1969, before the rest of the volumes, and is a little larger although the wrapper style is similar so it doesn't look out of place on the shelf with the set. ---- Greene wrote a new introduction to each… Leer más

Jonathan Cape. London. 1963. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (7.7 x 5.2 inches). The Authors first novel. Neat three line inscription (interestingly from a J. Fowles, but not the author) on the front blank endpaper, otherwise a very good copy in a very good dustwrapper with some light rubbing to the extremities and marking to the rear panel but still overall an acceptable and collectable copy.

All three volumes are generally clean and tidy throughout but have been re-cased into their original publishers bindings and new blank endpapers have been added. Original red cloth with black lettering to the fonr boards and spines. All three spines are faded but the black lettering is still strong. A few spots and marks to the cloth. Housed in a recent cloth covered slip-case. :

Viking Press.New York. 1961. FIRST AMERICAN EDITION. SIGNED BY GREENE on the title page. Very good copy in decorative red paper covered boards with gold and black design. White cloth spine lettered in red. In original red and white dustwrapper with price still intact($3.00). Spine of wrapper is faded and has a bit of chipping to top but overall a very good bright copy. Signed by Greene in black ink below his name on the title page.

A little foxing to the first couple of pages of volume three otherwise a near fine set in recent leather bindings of full red morocco, spines with five raised bands, the compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Twin black labels, gilt. All edges gilt. A finely bound, bright, clean set of this important collection. ---- Surprisingly uncommon in this 1951 first printing.

In the original mid brown cloth covered slip case. A fine copy of this scarce facsimile edition.

Neat previous owners name, dated vi, 35, on the front free endpaper otherwise this is a near fine copy in the original black cloth, lettered and decorated in gilt to the spine. The front board with the Author's symbol, lettering and decorative floral border, all in gilt. The rear board with the publishers Windmill logo blind stamped. The gilt and the cloth are still very bright and fresh. In the uncommon original dustwrapper, which reproduces the book front cover and spine in gold on black paper, with 8/6 price still intact on the front inner flap. Lower panel has list of works by Maugham printed in black on white. Loss to the top and bottom of the wrapper, not affecting the lettering. A couple of V shaped chipsbut generally a very ngood dustwrapper on a near fine book. Stott A49a.
