Inverness, CA: Sandpiper Press, 1979. 35p., 6.5x10 inches, illustrations, one of 785 copies printed; very good chapbook in orange pictorial wraps. Sanchez's memoir of the Second Great Coyote Fire in Santa Barbara where he had recently moved after the sale of "Rabbit Boss" to Hollywood.

London & Toronto: J.M. Dent & Sons Ltd, 1929. Hardcover. xxii, 170p., plentiful illustrations from photography and sketching, all printed sepia on glazed inserted stock; hardbound first edition in handsome waxed green cloth boards gilt, tinted top edge, a nice production. Book itself is perfectly sound and square, but spine-gilt is slightly flaked, expect foxing to fore-edge + blanks + title page, and a small inked presentation to front free endpaper. Clean and otherwise unmarked, a very good copy.

Mondocino, CA: CAAAPH, 1979. 8p., 8.5x14 inch stapled mimeographed packet, with cover letter, in torn original envelope. The group was soliciting information from the VVAW, which had done work on Agent Orange, about the effects on firefighters when working in areas that had been sprayed with herbicides.

Berkeley: Berkeley-Albany-Kensington Girl Scout Council, 1960. Pamphlet. Six-panel brochure, very good. An appeal for donations after the group's camp in the El Dorado National Forest burned down in October 1959. Includes before-and-after photos.

Washington DC: GPO, 1915. Paperback. 125p., illustrated with plates and diagrams, softbound in 9x6 inch plain printed grey wraps. Excellent copy with one flaw (aesthetic as much as a problematic weakness), the front cover has pulled back about an eighth of an inch from textblock all along its length --the wraps now revealing spine's glued area in this gap-- and yes, weakened but without any immediate danger of further damage. Spine panel also has two dings. Textblock itself is quite sound, this a good copy verging on the very good. Dept Interior, Bureau of Mines, bulletin 80. Enormously detailed; in the calendar year preceding compilation, 130 miners were killed and 250 seriously injured, and here is one of the government's responses.

Various pagination, 8.5 x 11 inches, Spring 1987-Vol. 5 No. 2 ex-library with ownership stamps on front wraps, else generally very good condition. The publishing organization changed its name from "Women in Fire Suppression" to "Women in the Fire Service" with Vol. 6 No. 1. Covers issues effecting fire fighters generally, as well as issues specific to women fire fighters such as maternity leave and fire department policies on hair length.
