Chasing Rainbows is a 1930 American Pre-Code romantic musical film directed by Charles Reisner, starring Bessie Love and Charles King, and released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The supporting cast features Jack Benny, Marie Dressler, and Polly Moran. This was Jack Benny's first dramatic role in a motion picture.
It was filmed in black and white, but had two Technicolor sequences, which were lost in the 1965 MGM vault fire. The rest of the movie survives and is on DVD in the Warner Archive Collection.
The movie introduced the song Happy Days Are Here Again, by Jack Yellen and Milton Ager. This song has been recorded hundreds of times, but its most famous version is by Barbra Streisand, who really laid claim to it.

This is the first/only printing of Highland Bagpipe Makers, Second Edition by the Scottish historian Jeannie Campbell. The first edition was a best-seller; in this edition, she finds more bagpipe makers, expands on previously published information, and adds more illstrations. There is also a new section on people were were bagpipe makers but worked for others, and there is more information on materials.
This is a $50 book but it has had a spill. At the front of the book, there is waving to the pages, there are a few stained pages, and two pages are stuck together, at the bottom corner. Otherwise fine.

This is the James Taylor Song Book, published in England in 1971. It is 23 songs, with the piano music at the front and the guitar music at the back. This is the souvenir brochure and libretto from the original London production (August 1972) of Jesus Christ Superstar, which ran at the Palace Theatre and starred Steve Alder, Colm Wilkinson and Anna MacLeod.8 1/2" x 11 1/4".28 pages plus covers and including a fold-out centre spread.The back cover has a couple of scuff marks. This is the cover to the sheet music for The Trolley Song, from the MGM film Meet Me in St Louis (1944). It was directed by Vincente Minnelli, which is how he and Judy Garland met, and later married.It was the second-highest grossing film of the year and is deemed 'culturally significant' by the Library of Congress.In this film, Garland debuted The Trolley Song, The Boy Next Door and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, all of which became standards and remain well-known songs.Condition: It needs a little work and a restorer can fix it up. This is what I think is a printer's proof of the dance music for La Mattchiche (La Maxixe). It still bears perforation marks, bits of the untrimmed paper, and some of the pieces (not the cover) are marked 'Specimen'.
It's too big to fit on the scanner.

La Mattchiche (La Maxixe) was known as the 'Brazilian Tango' which, in 1905, was all the rage in Paris. In April 1906, Hachette published this for sale in France, printing on the cover: 'La Mattchiche (La Maxixe) Le Grand Succes Parisien De 1905 (with dance figures) Spanischer Marsch' by M Eugenio and Borel-Clerc.'
It won Columbia Records' Grand Prize in 1905.
The piece was written/arranged by the French composer Charles Borel-Clerc (1879-1959).

My Baby Just Cares for Me is a jazz standard written by Walter Donaldson with lyrics by Gus Kahn. Written for the film version of the musical comedy Whoopee! (1930), the song became a signature tune for Eddie Cantor who sang it in the movie. A stylized version of the song by Nina Simone, recorded in1957, was a top 10 hit after it was used in a 1987 commercial for Chanel No 5, and resulted in a renaissance for Simone. Over the years, it has been recorded by many stars, from Frank Sinatra to Cyndi Lauper, Marlene Dietrich to Michael Buble.

is a 1930 American pre-Code musical comedy directed by Thornton Freeland and starring Eddie Cantor, Ethel Shutta, Paul Gregory, and Eleanor Hunt. It was photographed in two-color Technicolor. Its plot closely follows the 1928 stage show produced by Florenz Ziegfeld.

There was only one print run of this, as Harrison was sued for copyright infringement a few months after it was released.3 pages of music, plus cover. I have found several copies of Priscilla on Monday, but this is the only Priscilla on Thursday. It is in its original wrapper, and it is in lovely condition.
This piece was purchased in its brown wrapper, used, and then carefully re-wrapped. Someone who knew what he/she was doing made notes, and lyric changes, on the pages (lightly, in pencil). There are wear marks at the edges, but it is a lovely piece for a collector, and a player.
Priscilla's Week
was a series of pieces published in 1928, and there was a separate one for every day. They were written by Mathilde Bilbro (1870-1958). The following bio is from the Alabama Women's Hall of Fame.
The most prolific of Alabama composers, her published works include sheet form piano pieces, pianologues, song stories, piano duets and trios, and complete books of piano music collections.

There are several of Calumet Music's 1935 printing of Liebestraum available; this is the only one I can find with Harry Kogen on the cover.
Harry Kogen (1895-1985) was the conductor for the Chicago orchestras of both NBC and ABC from 1928-1948. In the 30s and 40s, his orchestra played for The American Farm & Home Hour, the Sinclair Minstrels, the Club Matinee and The Breakfast Club. He also composed more than 200 songs.
Condition is OK. There is a lot of wear at the edges and the original owner stuck an address label on the front, but that can be steamed off. It's still perfect for framing. And perfectly usable.

This is an original ticket to the April 28, 1979 concert by The Barbarians, the band formed by Ron Wood to promote his solo album 'Gimme Some Neck'. Neil Young suggested the name to Wood, who originally called it 'The New Barbarians'. It consisted of Wood, Keith Richards, Ian McLagan, Stanley Clarke, Bobby Keys and Ziggy Modeliste and existed for five months.
The Barbarians began by opening for the Rolling Stones at the Oshawa Civic Auditorium on April 22, 1979. This fulfilled one of the terms of Richards' Canadian sentence for drug possession--he had to play two charity concerts in Canada. The next stop was Ann Arbor (2 concerts) and then Cobo Hall, Detroit, which is where this ticket is from.
At this concert, Richards was clearly high. They eventually gave him a bar stool to sit on but he ran around the stage, then off the stage, and did not reappear. This is a stated First American Edition of SMITHSONIAN MUSIC: THE DEFINITIVE VISUAL HISTORY, published in 2013. Through text and a massive number of images, it shows how music has evolved with human society, accompanying our leisure, religious rituals, and popular festivities. It begins with pre-history and before musical notation, when melodies were memorized or improvised and goes through historical instruments, and moves through its global evolution up to electronica and heavy rock. It is a big, heavy book. This copy is mylar-wrapped and the mylar is loosening, which is why the cover looks odd in the image. It's just taped to the inside covers--you can easily remove it.
But there is no evidence that anyone ever read it. It is in mint condition.
