Laid in at front are 5 letters from the author to a friend in America, with the subject of the author's astrological work along with work in prisons. 3 manuscript letters and 2 typed; 4 with envelopes. The book is lightly to moderately toned to the covers with mild reader evidence to pages. Two lines with brackets in ink. Scarce with no copies located in world libraries. G+; Signed by Author .

NP: NP. Very Good-. 1922. Paperback. 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 12 pages; [1922] No place or publisher. No author attribution. Slim paperback in title lettered wraps and saddle stapled binding. Anonymously authored satirical treatment of Theosophy, its leading figures and beliefs. A sort of Roman-a-clef with pseudonyms and neologisms standing in for prominent figures and beliefs. It is given attention in Vol 11, page 42 of Theosophy Magazine of 1922 and also in the Dawn Magazine (Theosophist) #7 also of 1922. The whole piece is reprinted in that magazine. So rather than a send-up, taken as more of an inner-movement and well meaning critique, it would seem. Prior owner has furnished a typed "key" to the pseudonyms and neologisms used in the text. Many are obvious such as Zincwacker for Leadbeater and Einna for Annie Besant. Laid in at front, printed on laid paper, is "A Confession of Faith (By the authors of Humoresque) " which treats Theosophists in a humorous rhyming poem. Issue 7 of Dawn… Leer más

HC in original green cloth; gilt title lettering dim to cover board and in blind (gilt flaked and missing) to spine. Apparently the 1st edition of this pedantic collection of essays and instructive pieces presented in a looselt business oriented form for American German language speakers. Binding sound and contents generally neat. 6 or 7 nail head sized abrasion, surface puncture points to the rear board; 4 or so much milder point abrasions to the cover board. First and last several pages foxed. Snuglt bound and clean. A very uncommon 1st issue example of a series of books and courses designed for the recent German immigrant. Illustrated with a number of in-text photographs dealing with hypnotic method and practice. G++ .

Soundly bound in original terra cotta colored cloth with lettering in gilt to covers and spine; boards beveled at edges. Uncommon Spiritualist title which considers the afterlife as described in Holy text and as described through the channeled experiences of numerous spirits/souls available to the author. Soundly bound with clean contents; cloth with moderate mottling to the board edges and spine ends. Cloth rubbed with incipient fray at spine ends; bottom front corners bumped and bruised. Sound with cosmetic flaws to the externals. Peebles was a prolific author of Spiritualist and alternative healing and diet books; he was one of the primary figure in advocating the Spiritualist movement in 19th century America. Hard to find title and especially so in the 1st edition. G+ .
