William Mavor Watts (1797/98 - 1874) was an English printer, based in London, who specialised in non-Roman fonts and Bible printing. Watts took over the printing business that his father Richard Watts had established in Crown Court, Temple Bar, London and developed it further. Watts made his name well known as a printer who could undertake to set up copy in almost every language and turn out his works in thoroughly artistic style. The founts of type he possessed, available for the printing of works in almost every known language, would have done honour to the wealthiest and most learned academies.

Original green cloth with gold lettering and design to front cover and spine. Some old and inert marks to front cover. 50 photogravure photographs with tissue guards. 340pp. Text block is solid, text pages are clean and internally better than very good

Third edition limited to 3,000 copies. 8vo. 536pp. Full leather with no titling to spine or cover. Neat ink inscription from 1841 to top of title. Textually in very good condition with a very good binding

Lugduni [Lyon], 1677. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 12mo. 110mm x 60mm. A fascinating association copy of a New Testament found by a soldier in the first World War and recovered from a library destroyed by the war and rain. The inscription reads: "Souvenir of the World War. At the back of the N.Z Trevelus is the Church of , lately destroyed by German artillery. The splendid Rectory is still standing but is in ruins. The abbe's library is now falling through the flooring to the basement below. I took this from the shelves haphazard. A few weeks of rain, together with another peppering from the Hun batteries will see the end of what must have been a beautiful library. Today, the parish itself stands forsaken and deserted; it's empty streets overgrown with rank (?) grass and the noble church that once was, an unrecognisable brick heap. I saw it destroyed. Chas. 19/8/1916" The original full leather binding as found. Some marks internally

[London] : Printed by W. Iaggard, 1611., 1611. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Small folio. 29cm x 19cm. Title page within engraved decorative border, trimmed at foredge. [22], 172,177--577,[1]pp. Lacks Q3,4. Contemporary full calf with some loss at foot of spine, rubbed, raised bands, label. Notwithstanding the loss of 2 leaves, this work is very uncommon in commerce with no apparent auction records. It is only represented in 3 US Libraries. This work was planned as a multi-volume work but, in the end, only volume 1, book 1 was published. Bunny was best known for his 'Scepter of Judah'.

Text in Latin and French double column in places. Marbled boards. Original red polished calf with elaborate gilt tooling comprising dentelle decorated border with fleurons at the corners - to front and rear boards. Heavy gilt decorated compartments within raised bands, green label. A very attractive and original French C18th binding

12mo. 14cm x 9cm. 7th edition. 1833. Portrait frontis of John Kent, tissue guarded facing title page. 335pp contemp pencil notes. Original black leather boards rebacked in style with new label and lettering. The only holding of this edition is in the British Library. Kent was a Calvinist hymn writer from Devon, England, born in 1766.

8vo. 18cm x 12cm. With a 23pp Foreword by Richard Baxter. Collates complete as per ESTC [64],215,[1],48,47-252,[2]pp Text pages are really very good, crisp and well-margined. Minimal minor marks. Lovely original C17th boards sympathetically rebacked over raised bands with red label. Jacomb was a moderate Puritan who was installed as a D.D. in Cambridge at the Restoration; however, he was ejected for non-conformity in 1662.

Full recent best morocco calf over raised bands with red label and gilt lettering to spine. Title page within border of fleurons. [30], 462pp Pagination is complete despite errors in printing. Wing R1227. Scarcely represented in Institutional libraries. Reyner was a non-confirming divine known for his devotional writings. Ejected in 1662

8vo. 17cm x 11cm. Title is A1, within rules, ink ownership Diodat Hoare his Book 1735. Collates complete as per ESTC [8],384,369-461,[11]pp. Text is very good, crisp and good margins throughout. Half leather (Victorian?), marbled boards, gilt lines to spine. Polhill was a non-conforming Puritan who held to a hypothetical universal redemption position. John Owen disagreed with him on this point but lauded most of his writings.

Text continuous despite pagination. In very good condition, with some minor fraying to inner gutter at the base of the index pages at rear.

Later C19th? Half calf, marbled boards, straight spine with gilt lines.

Edward Polhill (1622-1694) was an English Puritan writer and theologian from Suffolk. He studied at Cambridge University and became a minister in the Church of England, but was ejected for non- conformity in 1662. Polhill was known for his piety and devotion to God, as well as his advocacy for religious toleration and civil liberties. He wrote several influential works, including 'The Divine Will Considered in its Eternal Decrees'; and 'A View of Some Divine Truths,' which were widely read and discussed by his contemporaries. Polhill's writings had a significant impact on the development of English Protestant theology and religious thought.

Small folio. 26 x 20cm. Polished calf boards recently rebacked with raised bands. Label. [24], 267, [1]. 182, 36, [24]pp. This edition does not require a portrait as some editions. A very clean copy with minor stains. This is an excessively rare edition, with only a single copy located in the US.

William Whately was a Puritan preacher who lived in England during the 17th century. He was born in Banbury, Oxfordshire in 1583 and studied at Magdalen College, Oxford. He became a pastor in Banbury in 1605 and later served as a minister in Banbury and then Deddington. Whately was known for his passionate preaching style and his emphasis on the importance of living a virtuous life in accordance with biblical teachings.

Contemporary ink annotations on first 4 pages. Final 4pp of first work slightly ragged at extremities, not affecting text. Half leather with marbled boards, recent binding. Raised bands. Both works are scarcely represented on ESTC in Institutional Libraries (4 locations). Not Oxford or Cambridge. David Millar (1687-1757) was an English Dissenting Minister.
