Color illustration plates. Fair condition. Light green cloth over boards with white text. Color illustration pressed into front cover. Much soiling and wear specially at spine. End paper is partially loose at bottom of cover and the cloth spine is loose from the bound pages, but the book is still together. There is previous owner's name in ink on end paper and an ink scribble on the opposite end paper. Some pages are smudged. Text is clean. Paper is lightly age tanned. Page binding appears to be in good condition. Closed book pages show wear, soiling, and stains. Even with the flaws it is still a good reading copy.389 pages.

From "Of Course I Believe in Ghosts" by Red Skelton:"DOESN'T EVERYBODY?
Sometimes, just before I go on stage, the ghost of the greatest pantomimist of all whispers in my ear. His name was Grimaldi and even though he lived a couple of centuries ago, he tells me funny things to try and do."
This is a collection of ghost stories from various authors such as: John West, Lord Dunsany, Washington Irving, Lafcadio Hearn, Oscar Wilde and more. The book is printed on a heavier than most buff colored paper and each story has a blue and black illustration.
Good+ condition. Blue cloth over boards w red and white text on cover, plus graphic of Red Skelton, and yellow title on spine. There is edge and corner wear and a .5" tear at top of spine. Gift inscription (part pencil, part ink) on front red end paper. Closed book page edges have light soiling/stains. I did note a whif every once in a while of an "old book" smell - nothing nasty. Text is clean. Binding is tight. Really a nice book to add a ghost stories or… Leer más

From the "Introductory" page: "In the hills of life there are two trails. One lies along the higher sunlit fields where whose who journey see afar, and the light lingers even when the sun is down; and one leads to the lower ground, where those who travel, as they go, look always over their shoulders with eyes of dread, and gloomy shadows gather long before the day is done. This, my story, is the story of a man who took the trail that leads to the lower ground, and of a woman, and how she found her way to the higher sunlit fields.
In the story, it all happened in the Ozark Mountains,..."
(Think Ozark life as it was at the turn of the century.)
Very Good condition. The cover color image is very good, but there is a bit of rubbing and a bit of wear on the edges and corners. This is really a nice book. It is clean and tight.

Descripción:
This story starts: "January 15, 1831. How dreadfully old I am getting! Sixteen! Well, I don't see as I can help it. There it is in the big Bible in father's own hand, 'Katherine, forn Jan. 15, 1815.' I meant to get up early this morning, but it looked dismally cold out of doors, and felt delightfully warm in bed."The book appears to be written in a diary-type format. Good condition. Blue cloth covers with white text and a paper image of a woman pasted onto the front. Light wear to edges, spine, and corners; however, the cloth has a small rubbed area on the front, the lady image has some chipping and a stain at the bottom, and the white letters and lines are worn. The name, Olive J. Rice, is written in ink inside the front cover. There is some page tanning. Text is clean. Binding is tight. There is one seriously torn blank page near the back. Please use photos as part of the description.359 pages.

Descripción:
According to a review I found by JanP, "This book chronicles the lives of four chidren who were lost during disasters at sea and land and how they grew up to be reconciled to their families. The main character Hazel is raised by a lighthouse keeper but is educated and refined. An exciting read."Fair condition. It appears that book originally had a light green cover with red title and design, plus a paper image of a woman pasted onto the front. There is much cover wear at edges, spine, and corners, and soiling. The closed book page edges have some marks. The front cover is partially loose at the bottom. There are a few pages at the back of "Good Fiction Worth Reading". There is a closed tear on the title page and a few pages have a stain at the edge. Otherwise text is clean and pages are complete. A good reading copy. 256 pages.
