Signature to ffep.Ambroise Pare (c.1510-1590) One of the greatest surgeons of all time, this work is edited by Geoffrey Keynes, M.D., D.Litt, F.R.C.S., F.R.C.O.G., Emeritus Surgeon, St Bartholomew's Hospital. Many of Pare's illustrations are reproduced, together with portraits of the surgeon aged 45, 65, 68 and 72.

First edition. Printed and sold by William Darton, Jun. London. 1815.112, (3), 4pp publisher's ads. Folding engraved map, 12 copper engraved plates, (carriages and trades etc.) all in the original uncoloured state. Contemporary quarter calf, plain boards. Faded gilt lettering and rules to spine. Worn, with loss to head and foot of spine. Hinges and joints cracked, but holding. Closed tear to map and fold professionally repaired with paper tape. Staining from binding overlay to top corner of fep and ffep. Lightly toned, with some ghosting from plates and occasional minor spots or marks. Neat signature to title page. "Scot" written in light pencil to upper margin of p4.Originally written as "A Key to Walker's Geographical Tour Through France". A board game, "a new Geographical Pastime" published by W.
