No binding. Very Good. Fine Art Print Vintage original 11 x 14"" (28 x 35 cm) title lobby card, USA. Ronald Reagan, John Litel, Lya Lys, James Stephenson, dir: Lewis Seiler; Warner Brothers. This is a textured linen card. There are pinholes at each of the four corners, a pinhole at each margin halfway down the card, three minor edge tears and tear area to the left edge of the card, which have been addressed with archival tape on the verso, very good-fine.Though described as an action thriller, this B-film played into the developing genre which became noir, Warner Bros. leading the way in the stylistic elements. This story concerned enemy agents and the sabotage of war deliveries.This was Ronald Reagan's 4th starring vehicle. Having made his way from bits to supporting roles in A films, he was for a bit of time given a crack at leads in B features.

A portrait of Tom Sawyer (Jackie Coogan) and Becky Thatcher (Mitzi Green) in this feature film directed by John Cromwell. Although there were many silent films adapted from Twain going all the way back to 1907, this version of Tom Sawyer was the very first talking film adapted from any of his writings.

Van Dyke; MGM. Art Deco opulence in the MGM/Cedric Gibbons art direction (Alexander Toluboff and Edwin B. Willis as associates) was the highlight of this film, and of this exquisite card featuring Myrna Loy and Warner Baxter. This was the story of a crooked lawyer whose specialty is getting mob members off for their crimes. Loy plays his girlfriend, but as this film is not only pre-Code, for her it is also pre-Nora Charles, also basically a prostitute. Her gowns were by Adrian, nonetheless. Included was the new hit song by Jimmy McHugh and Dorothy Fields,"" Don't Blame Me"". Aubrey Smith, Reginald Owen, Cora Sue Collins, dir: Rouben Mamoulian; MGM.The pet project of Greta Garbo, who came out of a year of self-imposed exile after refusing the poor scripts that MGM was attempting to saddle her with, to play the historic Queen of Sweden. Loyal and bound to her country when she experiences romance, she decides to give up her throne to follow her heart.This card depicts the scene in which she tells her people of her choice to abdicate. The card was once in an album, and there are light stains on back which do not show through at all, pinholes in outer image, one minor border chip, mended with archival paper, NEAR FINE.

Robert Mitchum, Lizabeth Scott, Robery Ryan, Ray Collins, Joyce Mackenzie, Robert Hutton, Virginia Huston, William Conrad, dir: John Cromwell; RKO. Interestingly, a remake of the silent film of the same name and based on a 1927 Broadway play in which the director, John Cromwell had appeared. Cromwell received uncredited directorial assistance from some of the big players of the film noir genre, including Tay Garnett and Nicholas Ray. The story was one of a big national crime syndicate moving into a city, attempting to get their people elected to political positions -- using violence, if necessary -- and the honest cop who opposes them. Lizabeth Scott was the femme fatale lead, and two Janes of the RKO Tarzan series appeared in the other female roles: Virginia Huston and Joyce Mackenzie (with Mitchum on card no. 1). Howard Hughes presented both this and the 1928 silent version, FINE.

Eckstine was a famous African American vocalist at mid-century. He made very few appearances in films, and this musical short may be his only film in which he starred. Alexander was a very important early African American film producer. Born in 1916 in Denver, Colorado, or in Missouri. He grew up in Colorado and was educated at Colorado State College of Education, now the University of Northern Colorado, and Chicago State University. In 1941, Alexander relocated to Washington, D.C., where he was employed by the National Youth Administration. He worked for a radio program, where his responsibilities involved interviewing African Americans who worked for the federal government and producing stories about Washington's Black middle class. There are a few scattered pinholes to an otherwise perfect card with vibrant colors, fine.One of the finest lobby cards for one of film history's most truly bizarre movies. Perhaps this was Sternberg's answer for Dietrich to her great competitor Greta Garbo's Queen Christina. While that film attempted to tell an accurate historical account of a historic queen, this film was a major experiment in style.
The basis was the story of Princess Sophia of Germany who is taken to Russia to marry half-wit Grand Duke Peter (played with aplomb insanity by Jaffe). The Princess is repulsed by him, finds love with a Russian soldier and produces a son. No one asks questions and she moves on to become Catherine the Great. Ira Lyon of the Glow-Tan cosmetic company is unhappy with his program and cancels it. When Johnny returns from duty and meets his sweetheart Patti Lyon, Ira's daughter, they both manage to persuade her father to attend an audition of new talent with a view to starting his program again."Meanwhile, famous radio stars Lucille Nestor and Don De Haven are stranded outside Johnny's studio when their car runs out of gas. The husband has a melt down over the wife's imagined infidelity, those scenarios s set to music.Masterful direction and acting make this an all -time comedy classic.
Delightful scenes in these cards display the atmosphere of fun. Set was lightly used and displays a bit of storage wear, mostly in slightly creased right side blank white margin.
