Richmond, VA: Samuel Shepherd - Printer to Commonwealth, 1843. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original marbled paper cover boards half bound in leather with red and black labels to spine. Exterior shows scuffing and soiling with cracking in wear to the leather. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues, nothing torn or loose. Pages are toned due to age and foxing and spotting is present throughout. Front hinge is starting to open in the center. Previous owners names are written in several areas, it appears as book was passed down from father to son with the front and rear pastedowns showing the name R. S. Brown - May 1886, in the first end page shows the name C. L. Brown. In addition, the original owner signed 'Brown" twice on the title page. No other handwriting found in the book. Rear pastedown show some peeling to the edges.

Wheeling, WV: W. J. Johnston, Public Printer, 1877. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original marbled paper covered boards half bound in leather. Exterior shows moderate to heavy wear and leather is crusty. Leather hinges also cracked on both sides and spine edges are chipped. Interior hinges are cracking at boards but text pages are tight, nothing torn or loose. Paper is toned due to age and scattered foxing and spotting is present. Front pastedown shows original owners names stating this was a presentation to John Koonce (?) from a Thom G. Roofs (?) with an 1877 date. Some faded writing is also present on the front end page, no other handwriting found. This is the original edition of 1877, not a modern reprint.

Richmond, VA: William F. Ritchie, Public Printer, 1853. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original marbled paper cover boards half bound in leather. Exterior is in rough shape with both boards detached and heavy loss to the leather on spine. Front and rear boards are broken loose and have the first end page still attached. Despite the rough exterior the remaining binding of the text pages is good. Paper is toned due to age and foxing and spotting is present throughout. Front pastedown has a small personal library book in the corner and one of the front end pages has broken loose. Good candidate for rebinding or reference material. This is the original publication, not a reprint.

Richmond, VA: William F. Ritchie, Public Printer, 1851. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original marbled paper cover boards half bound in leather. Exterior is in rough shape with both boards barely hanging on by just a single section of binder string that will easily break. Leather on spine is worn and cracked. The majority of the text pages are attached and secure but front end page is detached. This page has some handwriting, written lightly in pencil. The signature appears to read Major Charles Hunton(?) Brandwell(?), Thurman, Milford. The second end page contains an additional signature at the bottom which is written upside down along with an 1895 date. Interior pages are quite toned due to age and foxing and spotting is present throughout. Several pages also show corner creases. The rear pastedown contains some penciling as well as signatures. Charleston, WV: John W. Gentry, Printer, 1875. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original marble paper boards half bound in leather, red label on spine. Exterior shows scuffing and chipping and leather is powdery and cracking at hinges. Internal binding is good and text pages are secure. Hinges show pulling at boards but remaining binding is fine. Pages are toned due to age and some foxing and spotting is present. No signatures or bookplates, no handwriting or library markings present..

New York: A. S. Barnes & Company, 1971. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good-. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. Inscribed and signed by the horse owners on the front end page. DJ shows quite a bit of scuffing along with chips and tears, several creases at the top of the rear jacket portion. The original prices of $8.95/70s/£3.50 are all still present on the front flap. Green cloth boards underneath or clean with only minor fading to some of the edges, corners show some light bumping. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No bookplates or library markings, no remainder marks, no other handwriting than the inscription which reads: "To Betty + John Filoni (??) Thanks for being a part of Meadow Lands Farm and Adios through the years. Best always, Mary Lib + Del Miller. 5/31/71".

London: Ingram, Cooke, & Co., 1852. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original 1852 publication in original binding. Cloth is quite worn and faded, spine shows tears, holes and chipping. Edges and corners also worn/bumped. The internal binding shows some pulling at boards and at a few quadrants of pages though pages are all still secure. The tissue guard on the frontispiece is still present and attached. Paper is tone due to age and light foxing is present throughout. Front pastedown and opposite end page contains original owner data written in pencil and in the upper right corner there is an oval embossed seal from the original bookstore. All engravings have been verified as being present. No other markings found other than what has been pointed out here, no bookplates, no library markings.

London: Constable and Company Limited, 1911. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, decorated green cloth boards with gilt text to spine. Book would normally grade as VG to VG+ but there is a tear at the upper left hinge area that measures roughly 2 inches. Exterior shows some spotting and soiling along with light edge and corner bumps. The internal binding is good except for the area at the front board that matches up to the split in the cloth. Remaining binding is good and text pages are tight. Both maps are present in the rear of the book and are in good shape with no tears. No signatures or bookplates present, no library markings, no handwriting found. Pages are toned due to age and there is some minor spotting and foxing present though this is mainly limited to the end pages and pastedowns with the worst being the front end page.

New York: Golden Press, 1960. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG+. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Hergé. See photos for condition details. Tall hardcover, illustrated boards show only minor toning and minor edge and corner bumping/wear. The biggest issue with the exterior is the clear laminate is lifting in a few spots, mainly on the spine and around the hinge areas. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Pages are clean and show little use. Decorated end pages in front and rear are free of any handwriting or bookplates, no signatures, no library markings, no scribbling etc. First US edition thus with the copyright page showing the only Golden Press date of 1960 and the UK date of 1953. Publishers address shows the two digit pre-ZIP Code and the front board contains the proper number of 372:195 in the upper right corner.

New York: Dodd, Mead & Company, 1933. First US Edition . Hardcover. VG+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. John Farleigh. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, black cloth boards with white text on front and spine. Exterior shows a few smudge marks and only very light wear to corners. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No hinge issues, no handwriting, no signatures, no bookplates, no library markings etc. Pages are clean with no issues noted.

Chicago, IL: Laird & Lee, 1893. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Fair. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. H. Mayer. See photos for condition details. Softcover, original wraps scuffed and soiled with the name written on the top left. The exterior spine has been reinforced with a brown library cloth material. Edges and corners show bumps/wear and as a few stains present as well. Internal binding of the text pages are tight appears the front wrap was likely detached, which is why they put the tape on. The underside of the front wrap contains original owner's name and city, no other handwriting found. Pages are toned due to age and the end pages and pastedowns show spotting and foxing, text pages have scattered foxing but nothing severe.

New York: A. R. Keller & Company, 1911. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, blue cloth boards with decorations on front and gilt text on spine. Front cover has bright colors though some rubbing is present. The reason for the low grade is the upper left section of the front board has some rippling, as does the extreme top left rear board. This may have been caused by exposure to moisture. The front interior pastedown also show some wrinkling in a very minor split near the top of the hinge. Remaining text pages are good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings. The only issue found on the interior pages is on the third page of Lists of Illustrations (in the front of the book), where there is a small chip on the fore edge, near the upper outside corner. Inscribed and signed by the author on the title page Senator Bob Bartlett, known as the "Architect of Alaskan Statehood". DJ is tattered with scuffs numerous tears and large chips. Original price of $17.50 is still present on the front flap. Red cloth boards underneath are clean with only minor edge bumps. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. End pages and pastedowns show foxing and spotting but text pages are not affected. Inscription on the title page reads: "To Senator Bob Bartlett, For a bigger view of our biggest date - Sincerely Ron Lueder". Senator Bartlett possessed the reputation of a quiet man of achievement. Front cover shows a few doodles at the end of the two rifles. Exterior shows spotting and soiling as well with small white spot on back. Previous owner's info on front end page, no other handwriting found. The large foldout map is present in the rear but has a long tear along one of the creases that runs about 80% of the map. Pages are toned due to age and exterior page fore edge has a dark spot., Top edge also dust darkened.

Pale green boards with black and white design and text on front and spine. First US edition thus with copyright page showing a single date of 1894. No signatures or bookplates noted, no torn or loose pages. Book exterior shows soiling and spotting, spine darkened. There's evidence on the front end page, upper right corner, where a price was penciled in and then erased. Book condition good plus. See photos.

Exterior shows minor edge and corner bumps/wear, board shows some soiling with some light spots to the front, spine is mildly faded. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Pages are toned due to age and some minor spotting and foxing is present. Front end page contains two stamps showing the name Lewes D. Orton. No other handwriting or markings found.

Light purple wraps show minor toning along edges as well as light corner wear. No signatures, bookplates, or handwriting found. Only issue noted is the front cover and first page has a small heart punched in the lower right corner. Book is been placed in a protective archival bag.

Hardcover with dust jacket that still contains the original price of $2.50 on the front flap. DJ is heavily toned and darkened with numerous chips and tears on both the edges and folds. Dark blue cloth boards underneath are overall clean except for some small spotting on front and rear. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. There are no signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks, no handwriting, nothing torn or loose. Both end pages and pastedowns toning and spotting due to the paper reacting with the glue underneath, the text pages are unaffected by this issue. Dust jacket was placed in a protective mylar sleeve after the photos were taken.

Original price is still present on the front flap. DJ shows rubbing and soiling along with minor edge bumps and tears. Black cloth boards underneath still clean. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. Front and rear end pages show some waviness in the centers as does some of the text pages. This is the way the book was bound. No signatures or bookplates present, no library markings. Pages are tone due to age and from type of paper used. Only handwriting found in the book is on the front end page where there is faint evidence of a price once penciled in the corner.

Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. The front pastedown contains an unused bookplate with no name on it. No signatures or handwriting found, no library markings, no remainder marks. Pages are mildly toned due to age and the front and rear end pages and pastedowns show toning and foxing. Pages are tight like book got very little use.
