New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1864. Hardcover. VG+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, pebbled blue cloth boards ornately decorated and gilt. Front board shows only toning around the edges, spine is faded and rear board as a spot in the lower center area. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. Canary yellow end pages in front and rear with the front end page containing original owner's name and info along with a price written in the corner that was erased. There is also some leather marks that have also been erased in the upper section of the page along with a diagonal purple line. No other handwriting found in the book. No bookplates, no library markings present.

London: J. M. Dent & Sons Ltd., 1951. Revised edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. A. C. Harradine. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, decorated tan boards with green cloth to spine. Exterior shows toning along with some light spotting. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues, no signatures or bookplates, no library markings. The only handwriting found in the book is on the front end page, where you can barely make out that a price was once penciled in the corner and then later erased.

New York: George H. Doran Company, 1921. Hardcover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, paper covered boards with green cloth and paper label to spine. Exterior shows wrinkles in staining with under boards exposed on most sides. Interior pages are toned due to age and some spotting and foxing is present and page opposite title has a small tear on the top. Rear pastedown has an additional paper label for the spine showing a slight variation in the title. Good reading copy though exterior is a bit fragile.

Concord, NH: The Rumford Press, 1927. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG+/Good-. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. DJ is soiled and scuffed with numerous edge and corner chipping. Rear of jackets has large tear spot with creases. Boards underneath are still clean and bright and have been well protected by the jacket. Green paper boards with green cloth to spine. Interior binding is tight and pages are clean. Paper is toned due to age and some foxing is present. Front end page contains a long and personal gift inscription from the author to the Rev. Louis J. Thomas. Rear pastedown shows damage where an envelope was glued. The envelope is still present but detached (marked "memorabilia") and it contains two magazine clippings as well as a personal letter dated March 19, 1905 and is typed and signed by the author: " Dear Mr. Thomas,-- There are some things which we propose to do to-morrow and is only after long… Leer más

First edition limited to 2300 copies, of which this is copy number 430. Pages are clean and binding is tight. No handwriting or bookplates, no signatures. 26 pp w/facsimile of original manuscript. See photos.

New York: E. P. Dutton & Co., Inc., 1937. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. The original price of $2.50 is still present on the front flap. DJ is toned and tattered with the spine darkened. Edges show wear with chips and small tears. Blue cloth boards underneath show fading along edges and spine along with foxing spots. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. The front pastedown delete that the front end page contains the original owner signature along the top and a small bookstore label in the corner. No other handwriting found, no bookplates, no library markings, nothing torn or loose. Pages are toned due to age and the end pages and pastedowns show toning and foxing due to reacting with dust jacket paper over the decades. Stated first edition on the copyright page. A note was found in between the pages, presumably from the original owner about the book. This will stay with the book.

New York: Privately Printed / The Tenny Press, 1933. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, red cloth boards with gilt on front and spine. Interior shows soiling and handling wear, spine is sunned and edges and corners show bumping/wear. Rear board has a dampstain along the top edge. Interior binding is good at hinges but there is a crack at page 48/49 where you can just start see the webbing. Inscribed and signed by the author on the front end page. No other handwriting found, no bookplates, no library markings. Paper is toned due to age and there are couple scattered smudge marks and foxing spots.

New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1928. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, blue cloth boards with paper label on spine. Board show minor handling and edge toning, spine is a bit faded and label is sunned. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight except for a very thin hinge crack at page 144. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings. Both the front end page in the rear pastedown show very faint evidence of what was probably a price that was penciled and then later erased. No other handwriting found. Paper is toned due to age but pages are clean.

New York: John Lane Company, 1916. Hardcover. VG+/VG-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with actual dust jacket (not a facsimile). DJ shows toning and spotting, particularly on the backside. The underside of the jacket is darkened due to reacting with the book exterior. Black cloth boards underneath show minor spotting along with light edge and corner bumps. Both paper labels are still present and intact. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. Pages are clean but the end pages and pastedowns show minor foxing and toning. Later printing, with the copyright page stating twenty-eighth thousand.

Hardcover, black cloth boards decorated in red and gilt on front and spine. Exterior shows minor scuffing and soiling, edges and corners show bumps. Spine has a few marks in the center red area. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. First edition with the Scribner's "A" as well as the colophon on the copyright page.

London: John Murray, 1950. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, red cloth boards with gilt text on spine. There is some ephemera that was found between the pages which will be included with the book: there are two newspaper clippings, one is in obituary of the author the other day 1951 article from the Isle of Wight Writers' Circle, of which the author attended. There is also a postmarked RSVP card for the event and to meet Alfred Noyes, sent to K. Thelma Hinebaugh. Her signature and info also appears on the front end page. The exterior of the shows some sunning extreme top edges and spine area. The rear board also has a bleached mark along the bottom edge. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues and text pages are tight. The only other handwriting found in the book is on the first table of contents page, where "The Highwayman" title was underlined. There is also some light foxing present on… Leer más

New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1950. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. Signed by Carl Sandberg on the second front end page and stated first edition on the copyright page. The dust jacket is extremely tattered and in numerous pieces, rear of DJ shows large chips missing and the upper left corner is detached as is the rear flap. The original price of $6.00 is still present on the front flap and the DJ has been placed in a protective sleeve after the photos were taken. Blue cloth boards underneath show only minor toning to the edges and some very light corner bumping. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. The original owner's name and date is penned on the front pastedown. No other markings noted in the book, no bookplates, no library markings.

Toronto: McClelland & Stewart, 1927. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, green cloth boards with gilt on front and spine. Interior shows only minor handling spine is a tad faded as is the gilt on the spine. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues boards but there is a thin crack at the half title page. Pale blue end pages and front and rear show browning spotting. The half title page has original owners name and date very lightly written in pencil, this can be easily erased if desired. Paper is toned due to age and there is some spotting and foxing present though this appears to be limited to the pages near the boards, including the title page. The book did not get much reading as the last few sections of pages in the rear of the book are still uncut. The condition grade was lowered to VG because of the foxing around the frontispiece and a thin opening in the gutter at the half title page.… Leer más

London: Faber and Faber, 1954. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Good+. Blue cloth hardcover with dusted jacket protected in mylar. DJ has some fading on spine and chipping, mainly along front top edge. First edition, first state, with the "Ihad" error present on page 7. First state dust jacket with price of 10s 6d on front flap. There's a small bookseller's ticket on pastedown from Blackwell's in Oxford, England, otherwise no other bookplates or handwriting noted. Some spotting/foxing noted on end pages

New York: William Sloane Associates, 1946. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. VG-/Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. Signed by the author opposite the title page. The original price of $2.75 is still present on the front flap in the DJ is toned and scuffed with numerous chips/small tears/bumps along the edges. Full wraparound pictorial cloth boards which matches the illustration on the dust jacket show only minor toning and very light edge wear. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No bookmarks, no library markings, nothing torn or loose. The only other handwriting found in the book is on the front end page where there is 6.00 written near the upper right corner. Stated first printing on the copyright page.

New York: Robert Carter, 1848. Hardcover. Good-. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, blue cloth boards with all page edges gilt. Exterior shows edge and corner bumps and light soiling and darkening of the cloth. Rear board is a mark in the lower left corner. Interior binding is good though there is some pulling at the second end page. Heavy bond blue cloth pastedowns and front end pages. Second end page has faint residue of a price once penciled in the corner. Interior pages are tone due to age and foxing is present throughout. There's also some dampstains which are scattered throughout the book on various edges. Exterior binding seems a bit out of place for book from 1848. It's possible this has been rebound at one time, though if this is the case it would be a late 19th century or early 20th century rebinding. There is a small section of pages (195-214) that is starting to separate at the top the binding.

Indianapolis, IN: The Bowen-Merrill Company, 1903. Hardcover. Very Good. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Howard Chandler Christy. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, bluish gray cloth boards ornately decorated on front and spine. The front board is attractive with only very handling wear but the rear board shows quite a few smudge marks and scuffs. Spine is also mildly tanned. Edges and corners show bumps/light wear. The internal binding is good at the boards but there is some pulling at spots of the text pages where the book was laid flat. Decorative end pages and front and rear, the front pastedown has two small spots of glue, presumably from the bookbinding process, along the bottom edge. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. The book condition is a strong VG, borderline VG+.

Washington DC: William F. Boogher, 1885. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Softcover in original wraps period exterior shows different degrees of wear along with edge and corner creases/small tears and bumps. Spine also shows multiple tears. Note: the wraps shows an old masking tape repair on the underside and is detached from the interior pages. Pages are toned due to age and some foxing is present. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings found. Still has original string binding and some of the rear pages are starting to come loose. Tissue guard on frontispiece is present but is also detached. Book is complete, but need threes restrung.

New York: Comet Press, 1953. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG-/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket that still has the original price of $2.00 on the front flap. DJ shows a lot of scuffing and soiling with several large tears and crimps on the backside and numerous smaller chips and tears along the edges. Tan cloth boards underneath are clean with the only issues being several dents along the edges, both tops and bottom and the front board has a wrinkle in the cloth near the lower right corner. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting etc. The text pages are clean but the pastedowns and opposite end pages show spotting and foxing, mainly due to reacting to the dust jacket paper over the decades.

The exterior shows toning along the edges along with some minor scuffing. Spotting is present on both boards and spine cloth. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues other than some pulling at the half title page. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. Text pages are clean but there is some minor toning and spotting on the frontispiece and end pages.
