Hardcover, exterior boards show very little wear but there is a lot of spotting and smudge marks present. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues other than some minor pulling. The front end page contains original owner's info written near the top edge and both pastedowns and end pages also show smudge marks, with the front page be in the worst. The text pages seem unaffected by this other than a few random fingerprints here and there.

Hartford, CT: Columbian Book Company, 1871. Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original reddish brown buckram blindstamped and decorated in gilt. Exterior shows scuffing and handling wear along with edge and corner bumps. Bottom of spine has piece missing as well. Interior pages are tone due to age and foxing is present throughout. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings present. Tissue guard is still present in attached the frontispiece though over the decades it shows an imprint of the illustration. DJ shows some toning and scuffing along with edge chips/crimps/small tears. Red cloth boards underneath or clean and without any issues. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. There are no signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks etc. The text pages are clean but the rear end page has a smudge mark in the upper left corner, which is why this book grade as just VG+ instead of fine condition.

The price is clipped off of the front flap. DJ shows wear and edges are tattered with small chips and tears. Yellow cloth boards underneath are clean with only some very light edge bumps. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight like the book was never read. No bookplates or library markings, no remainder marks, no signatures present. The only handwriting found in the book is at the top of the front end page where there is a circled "2" written in red pen. Stated first edition on the copyright page.

The front and rear pastedowns stamped "Property of O. R. McGuire". Colonel O. R. McGuire was the chairman of the committee on administrative law of the American Bar Association, and author of "Americans on Guard", a series of addresses in defense of the conservative interpretation of our constitutional system.. The front end page contains an inscription which reads: "To R. R. McGuire, Frontier law may be crude but it has some interest to those who like the history as well as the practice of the law. DJ is heavily chipped along top edge as well as soiled and also a chip missing on the lower spine, about 3 inches up from the bottom. Jackie did a good job protecting the book has blue cloth shows only minor handling and scuffing. Rear board has some scratches and a yellow spot where the DJ color transferred over. Interior pages are clean and binding is tight, no hinge issues. Inscribed and signed by the author (to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur S. Henderson) and signed by the author with the date September 1, 1938. That some foxing is noted, mainly limited to the end pages and exterior page edges. Dust jacket has been placed in a protective sleeve after photos were taken for this listing.

DJ shows spotting and scuffing and has edge bumps and small tears present. Maroon cloth boards underneath are clean and corners are sharp. Attractive pictorial end pages and front and rear are free of any handwriting or bookplates, no library markings. Pages are toned due to age but are clean and binding is tight. There are still several quadrant of pages in the very back of the book that are still uncut.

This is a Tabard Inn Library copy, no. 1502, and the front pastedown contains a large ornate bookplate stating this. Exterior boards show scuffing and spotting along with edge and corner bumps/wear. There is some fraying to the edges of the spine as well. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures, no handwriting, no other library markings other than Tabard Inn bookplate. Pages are toned due to age and there is scattered spotting and foxing present.

Denver, CO: The Old West Publishing Co., 1947. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Ramona Bowman. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, green cloth boards decorated in yellow on front and spine exterior shows minor scuffing and bumps to the cloth covers as well as edges and corners. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues though there is a slight pulling at the title page and frontispiece. Pages are toned due to age but are clean. Pictorial end pages and front and rear are clear of any handwriting or bookplates. Also included between the pages was a typed letter from Lynn Pierson and dated September 2, 1995. This may just be a letter from one relative to another but as it was found carefully tucked between the pages it will stay with the book.
