"Daphnis and Chloe," believed to have been written by Marvell in the late 1640s, is printed here in an edition of 250 numbered copies by the Kit-Cat Press in Great Britain in 1988. This is number 88, and includes a linocut illustration by Colin Reeve. Andrew Marvell (1621 - 1678) was an English poet, satirist and politician who sat in the House of Commons periodically between 1659 and 1678. He was also a colleague and friend of John Milton. His poems range from the love-song "To His Coy Mistress," to evocations of an aristocratic country house and garden in "Upon Appleton House" and "The Garden." Today he is regarded as one of the best Metaphysical poets.
