April 1928 fifth issue of April 1923 New and Enlarged Edition of anthology originally published 1917. American and British verse. 16mo (5" x 7.5"), dark red buckram with faded gilt lettering on spine and decoration on front board, a few water splotches to boards, flexible boards, bumped corners, small tear at crown, one or two front matter pages creased at bottom right. Name of former owner Prof. Warner Berthoff and date March 1960 written on ffep, a few pencil marks on front matter pages including check marks in ToC, one note in ToC, none observed in the poems.

Oliver Ditson, 1916. Soft cover. Good. 235 pages, with index of song titles, plus 40-page introduction and notes on each song by Sharp. The songs are given with piano accompaniment and their many verses. The songbook with sewn binding opens compfortably to be read by pianist. Soft cover 4to (9-1/2" x 12-1/2"), covers worn/soiled/age-toned with 1-1/2" chip to backstrip at bottom, edges age-toned, pages lightly so. Former library book - stamped accordingly on first free end paper, where subsequent owner's name is also written. Pencil underscoring and/or notations on a few pages.

Indiana University Press, 1975. Soft cover. Very Good. 439 pages, with Notes and Sources section. Fourth printing of Midland Giant edition (1974), collection first published 1968. Drawings by Franz Altschuler. The Table of Contents lists the country whose version of each tale is included - all European except for one ancient Egyptian. Trade paperback, spine sunned, wraps lightly worn, black marker remainder mark (?) on front cover and front free end paper, edges a little smudged with faint foxing to top edge. Binding tight, pages unmarked.

Prefaces to each edition by Prof. Coker (Yale), who wrote an introduction to the excerpts from each thinker, from Plato and other ancients, St. Augustine, through the Renaissance, Reformation and Enlightenment, to Bentham. 8vo, gray cloth with black lettering and faded gilt decoration, spine and boards around edges sunned, black smudges on spine, bottom corners bumped, edges and end papers age-toned, binding firm. Old bookstore price in pencil and name of former owner written on ffep, pages unmarked.

Cover 5-1/4" x 7-5/8", cloth-bound dark blue with tan lettering on cover and spine, corners and ends of spine worn, front cover bumped on fore-edge side. Binding solid, pages bright, margin brackets and notes in pencil by former owner Prof. Warner Berthoff on approximately 15 of the pages.

Introductory note by the author, musical extracts printed throughout the summaries. A biography of each composer is included. Vol. 1 contains Wagner's operas; Vol. 2 - Mozart, Beethoven, Rossini, Von eber, Ambroise Thomas; Vol. 3 - Verdi, Puccini, and four others from the 19th-20th centuries. 8vo, red material over boards with faded lettering on spine, heavy wear to crown/heel/corners, rubbed along spine, top couple of inches of backstrip reglued, front hinge cracked, soil to back board/top edge/end papers, page margins age-toned. From the World's Classics series. 18mo (4" x 6"), dark blue cloth with blind-stamped colophon on front board, gilt lettering on spine almost entirely rubbed away, shelf wear especially to crown and heel, edges age-toned, foxing and tanning to end papers, water stains to fore-edge; in unclipped lightly soiled DJ with a pencil mark on back panel, 1/2" chip to top of DJ on spine and 2" chip to bottom, clear tape repairs. Name of former owner written on ffep, her notes in pencil in ToC, small marks in margins of two other pages.
