1849-51 four volume hardcover set as pictured. Please note that these are ex-library archive with typical markings. Despite this and their age, they remain in very usable condition. Bindings are firm in all volumes. Brown cloth boards with blind stamped design both front and rear and gold stamping on spine are soiled and rubbed with considerable wear at edges and hinges. A small portion of the spine is missing from volume 4. Spines of volumes 2 and 4 have been reinforced with clear tape. Texts of all 4 volumes appear complete and unmarked. Many pages are mottled, a few have small tears. Includes many illustrations and fold out maps. A number of the maps are torn and one is detached from the binding. Bindings are intact. Embossed blue cloth boards with red, blue and gold stamping are mottled and show some edge wear with slight fraying at head and tail of spine and at corners. 1927 hardcover as pictured. This is a nicely done volume that has seen considerable wear but remains a good reading copy or candidate for rebinding. The story of the British advance against Fort Stanwix and the battle at Oriskany, the bloodiest encounter of the Revolutionary War. The British retreat at Fort Stanwix and near concurrent defeat at Saratoga marked a turning point in the war of rebellion. This book is ex-library with typical markings. Binding is intact but quite loose. The linen reinforced front hinge is separating from the text block.
