A nice first edition of Denton and Mijatovies' book on Serbian folk tales. Pages are very good: aside from age wear on the outside block, inside the pages are clean and mostly bright with very few spots. No marks or inscriptions. Boards are good: cover is clear and bright and has a 'Property of St Mary's College Strawberry Hill' stamp in centre, as does rear board. Spine has a little peeling at top. Minor corner impact. Spine is tight just the slightest give. Front hinge exposed but no obvious impact structurally. All in all a very nice copy. Copper was a well known writer on the supernatural, as well as a range of fiction genres. Here he turns his attention the the Werewolf, and deals eloquently with the myths, history and artistic embellishment in the world of lycanthropy. A really interesting read. Book is ex-library but in fact in very good condition. See all photos. Pages are bright clean and unfoxed. Existing library residue comprises: marks on FEP where a sticker or card has been removed; a rectangular couple of ex-library stamps and a neat ex-libris stamp on the page with publication information; a small stamp on the bottom edges of the book, and a small stamp on the final index page - all of these are in the photos. Apart from this, all other pages are excellent. DJ is in a remarkably good state: unclipped, and with hardly any noticeable wear except minor rubbing and perhaps a little tanning to rear. A very nice copy. All now protected in a professional clear removable cover. Pp240 illus

A nice copy of this undated edition of Henderson's book on folk tales from Wales, Spain, Japan and elsewhere. Assumed perhaps 1920s-30s. Pages are clean and unmarked, a little scattered spotting. Pictures are clean and present. Boards are clean and spine tight. Just normal age wear such as slight impacts on corners and spine ends, a little blanching. No DJ, presumably as published . A good first edition copy of Thorpe's collection of popular Yule tales and traditions. Pages are generally clean and bright. This was owned by folklorist and author Ruth Manning-Sanders and she has inscribed her name on title page. There are a few light pencil notes in the text which are assumed to be hers and so have been left (eminently removable if desired). Front and back hinges have some semi-detachment, although spine binding remains tight. A few of the advertising pages at the end have come loose. Front and rear inside boards have residue of brown tape presumably used to fix a now removed protective cover. Rest of book seems fine though a little care may be needed. Covers are very good.
