The Metropolitan Opera National Company was a short lived American opera company that operated from 1965 to 1967 as a second touring company of the Metropolitan Opera that featured American and Canadian artists in their early stages of career development. Seven Recitals in late July and early August; no year given, prossilby mid 1960s. Date uncertain. Although most warmly remembered for his recorded collaborations with his brother-in-law Yehudi Menuhin, Louis Kentner was an important solo performer. His Brahms was noted for its glowing breadth and his Liszt had the stamp of authority. Kentner contributed significantly to the rehabilitation of the latter composer's works for solo piano. The programme consists of French songs with text translated by Lionel Salter. Ads for record companies. Wyss was a Swiss soprano who made her career as a concert singer and broadcaster in the UK. She was noted for her performances of French works, many of them new to Britain, for giving the world premieres of Benjamin Britten's orchestral song cycles Our Hunting Fathers (1936) and Les Illuminations (1940), and for encouraging other composers to set English and French texts.
