New York: Ezra Meeker, 1926. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG+. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Hardcover, no dust jacket. Maroon cloth boards, with beautiful decoration on front and profile of a woman on spine. Signed by the author (with a shaky hand) on first front end page. First edition thus. Front board is clean and bright and the only minor scuffing, spine shows some fading and a few small spots. Text pages are clean and binding is good, no other handwriting noted. The biggest condition issue is the top page edge as there are several stains present which are limited to the book exterior only and does not affect any interior pages. Impressive front cover but because of stain on top edge book condition has been lowered to very good plus. See photos.

New York and London: The Authors and Newspapers Association, 1907. Hardcover. VG+. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Frank T. Merrill. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, no dust jacket. Red cloth boards with text on front and spine. Small tear and cloth on top edge of spine. No signatures or bookplates present but front pastedown has a small " 25" penned in the top left corner. Title page states "J.W. Fischer Special Edition, For Sale by us in Hanover, Pa.". Pages are clean and binding is tight. Foxing is present on scattered pages as well as end pages.

New York: Mitchell Kennerley, 1914. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, pale purple cloth boards show scuffing and toning, spine is sunned. Edges and corners show bumps/wear. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, nothing torn or loose. The only evidence of handwriting is in the upper right corner of the front end page where can just make out where presumably a price was once penciled and then later erased. Pages are toned due to age and there is some spotting and foxing present, particularly on the end pages and pastedowns. The rear pastedown has a small loss of the paper finish down the bottom left corner.

Detroit, MI: Harlo Press, 1971. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. Signed by the author on the front end page. The original price of $5.00 is still present on the front flap. DJ was placed in an older mylar sleeve many years ago which has protected the jacket. The only noticeable flaw is a very small tear near the upper right corner on the front, this measures about one quarter of an inch. Dark yellow cloth boards underneath or clean with no issues. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No other signatures or handwriting noted, no bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks. Both end pages and pastedowns do show foxing spots, as do the jacket flaps. This is caused by the two different types of paper reacting over the decades. Stated first printing on the copyright page.

Hagerstown, MD: Privately Printed, 1929. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG+. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, red cloth boards show only minor handling wear, mainly few spots in the gutter and at the bottom of the front board. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. There are no signatures or bookplates, no library markings. The only evidence of handwriting found in the book is at the upper right corner of the front end page, we can see and indentation of where a price was once penciled and then later erased. The only issues with the book is at page 92/93 there is a small grease spot along the edge near the lower outside corner end page 289 shows a flaw with the paper which has the corner torn out and folded over.

New York: Privately Printed for Rarity Press, 1930. Private Printing . Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Jean de Bosschere. See photos for condition details. Red cloth boards with silver on front and spine. Exterior boards show only minor scuffing though there is fading to the spine and edges of both front and rear. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues other than a bit of pulling at page 158. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks. The only evidence of handwriting found in the book is on the front end page where you can still see were a price was once penciled in the upper corner and then later erased. The rear pastedown also contains a small price sticker on the upper inside corner.

Exterior shows minor soiling from handling along with edge and corner bumps. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. Paper is toned due to age and there is very minor spotting/foxing present. The rear end page is in Boston the corner with the original bookstore that sold the book. No other markings found.

Hardcover, maroon cloth boards with pectoral front and gilt text on spine. Exterior shows edge and corner wear/bumps in cloth shows minor staining and rippling. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Pages are toned due to age and foxing/spotting is present, with the worst being the end pages. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. Rear end pages have a small amount of red staining along the bottom outside edge.

New York: Farrar & Rinehart, Inc., 1918. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, no dust jacket. Green cloth boards with black text on front and spine. Spine is mildly sunned as are boards. Top edge died yellow, other edges have foxing spots. No signatures or bookplates noted. Scattered foxing is present with the worst being on the end pages.

New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1920. Photoplay Edition . Hardcover. VG-/VG-. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Photoplay. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with original dust jacket. DJ shows toning and scuffing along with edge bumps/wear/small tears. Gray cloth boards underneath show only minor toning spots, though there are dark areas in the gutters. Corners are sharp. The book would normally grade as VG+ to near fine but both the front and rear hinges have partial cracks. This is just from lifting and can be repaired, if desired. Pages are toned due to age and there is some foxing present, though this is limited to the pages around the frontispiece along with the end pages and pastedowns. Illustrated with scenes from the play produced by Brock Pemberton. Scarce to find with jacket.

New York: Harper & Brothers, 1943. 3rd Edition . Hardcover. Good/Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. Briefly inscribed and signed by the author on the half title page. DJ is in very rough shape with large chips and tears, soil spots and scuffing, faded spine, and the front flap is detached. The price of $2.75 is still present on the front flap and there is also a small price sticker on the rear flap. The tattered dust jacket has been placed in a protective mylar sleeve after the photos were taken, to prevent further damage. Black cloth boards underneath show some scuffing and soiling as well as spotting, mainly to the rear board. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No handwriting or signatures, other than that of the author. No bookplates, no library markings etc. Pages are quite tone due to age and the type of paper used as this was published during the war. New York: The Macmillan Company, 1941. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG-/Good-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. DJ is scuffed soiled with numerous chips, tears, and creases along the edges. The price of $3.00 is still present at the top of the front flap but there is some faint penciled writing around the price in the lower corner of the front flap appears to have been cut. The dark blue cloth boards underneath have always been protected by the jacket but does show some toning and spotting line edges and spine. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. The front pastedown contains a bookplate with the name "The Halliburtons" and there is also an oval stamped stating Compliments of the USO Lounge, Atlanta GA. no other markings found in the book. The end pages and pastedowns do show toning and spotting along with foxing along the edges but the text pages are clean and unaffected. Stated first printing on the copyright page.

Boston and New York: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1907. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Alice Barber Stephens. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, gray cloth boards fully decorated on front. The exterior shows scuffing and soiling along with some light edge and corner bumps. The front board also has some wear to the paper illustration label, mainly on the bottom edge. The internal binding is good at the boards though is some webbing showing on some of the text page areas. There are no bookplates or library markings. The front end page has a faded spot in the upper right corner where presumably a price was once penciled and then later erased. No other handwriting found. All the text pages are decorated on all sides with green holiday decorations. First edition in hardcover with the original story being published in 1905 in magazine form through the Curtis Publishing Company.

Hardcover, brown cloth boards blind stamped with publishers logo on front and rear. Exterior shows spotting and soiling along with some light wrinkling to the cloth, corners softened and edges show bumps/wear. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Salmon colored end pages and front and rear. The front pastedown and second end page shows some light penciling along with a signature, also in pencil. The second end page also has a large faint dampstain which is also present on the backside of the half title page. No other handwriting found in book, no library markings, no bookplates. First edition, second state, with the title page spelling correctly reading "Thackeray" (the first state misspelled it as "Thackaray"). Hardcover, first edition thus with a single publication date of October 1913 along with the printing code I-N (I=September, N=1913). Green cloth boards show very little wear with the only issue being faint stain in the upper left corner of the front board. Corners are sharp the spine edges show a bit of bumping/wear. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting etc. Pages are overall clean though the frontispiece/tissue guard/title page has a brown mark which has affected all three pages. There is also a small stain on the rear pastedown. Attractive copy with the illustration on the front still having bright colors.

California: Hogarth Guild, 1970. 1st Edition . Soft cover. VG+/VG-. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Illustrated by Peter Fendi. See photos for condition details. Tall softcover with dust jacket. DJ is toned and shows some spotting and scuffing, edges and corners also show bumps/light one. Brown exterior wraps underneath are clean and without issues. The internal binding is good and pages are tight. There are no signatures or bookplates, no handwriting, no library markings. NOTE: there is a red dot on the bottom edge, which is likely a remainder mark. Some slivers of the red could be seen on the pages as well, which you can see on the photo of the title page. The end paginated pages are clean although there is some light foxing spots which are mainly present on the end pages.

New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1905. First US Edition . Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, green cloth boards with gilt text on front and spine. Exterior shows spotting and scuffing along with edge and corner bumps. Spine is faded and has a rectangular spot near the center. The internal binding has some issues: the rear hinges starting to crack by about 50% in the center of the book sticks out a bit along the exterior page edges. Going to these sections you can see hints of webbing showing in several areas, though book is still very readable. The front end page contains a signature along with a 1906. This page also shows where a price was once penciled in the corner and then later erased. No other handwriting found, no bookplates, no library markings. This is the first US edition published by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1905. It was published simultaneously in London in the same year by Smith, Elder & Co..

The original price of $3.95 is still present on the front flap. DJ shows minor spotting along with a bit of wear and small chips along the top edge. Black cloth boards underneath are clean and corners are sharp. The only issue with the exterior cloth is a couple scuff marks on the rear board. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting, no remainder marks.

Garden City, NY: Doubleday, Page & Company, 1912. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Arthur C. Michael. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, red cloth boards shows some handling wear, mainly light scuffing and spotting. Spine is also lightly faded and edges and corners show bumps/wear. The internal binding is good for the most part with the exception of the rear hinge, which is cracked. No library markings present. Due to age but are clean. There is some minor foxing scattered about, particularly around the pages with illustrations, this is due to the two different types of paper reacting with each other. All illustrations have been verified as being present.

Hardcover, orange cloth boards with black text on front and spine. Exterior shows some spotting and light soiling as well as a bit of fade to the spine. Bottom of spine also shows fraying. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No hinge issues. The front pastedown contains a note in tipped in from the publisher stating this copy was sent out for review prior to the official publication date. The opposite end page contains a signature of the reviewer which is faintly written in pencil. No other handwriting found.
