Descripción:
Raleigh, N.C.: Edwards, Broughton, & Co., [1881 or 1882]. 63 pages. Ads included in pagination (pp. 59-63). Original printed wraps. 23 x 15 cm. Spine chipped and showing light evidence of glue repair, front wrap nearly detached, a number of shallow chips to wraps not affecting printed matter. A few corners creased or chipped. Fair to good only. Second edition. We have also seen the first edition of this number. The main body of the text appears to be the same in both editions, however, the second edition has some changes in layout and fewer adds. While the first edition was almost certainly printed in 1881, demand for the second edition may not have arisen until the new year. This almanac has been praised for "collecting and preserving much valuable biographical and historical data concerning the denomination." --Dictionary of N.C. Biography (entry for Bailey). In addition to the usual almanac fare, there is "A Brief Sketch of Baptist History in North Carolina," several… Leer más
