Inside pages are clean, bright and unmarked. A collection of poems by a woman who grew up in Palmerston, Ontario, and taught school in Cedarville, Fort Erie, Grand Valley, Winona, and Hamilton. The book was published by her family as a Christmas gift to her. .

Rear hinge has a crack and has possibly been glued, and is holding firmly. Wear to the spine ends, and less so to the corners. Gilt spine titles darkened. Inside pages have occasional soil and are lightly tanned. The last few leaves are still together along the top edge, obviously the edge being missed in trimming. A poem in blank verse, which tells a story of sexual intrigue, religious obsession and violent death in contemporary Paris and Normandy, closely based on the true story of the death, supposedly by suicide, of the jewellery heir Antoine Mellerio (from Wikipedia). .

Bound in green, cloth-covered boards, with gilt stamped titles and top edge and pastedown illustration on upper board. Some of the stitching of the gatherings is a little loose. Corners have some wear and softening. A few minor soil spots inside, otherwise the pages are clean and unmarked, with slight toning. The first illustrated edition of this volume of poetry by British-Canadian writer Robert W. Service. Includes 15 tissue-guarded black and white photographic plates. .
