Small pencil owner signature front pastedown, Soem rubbing on the spine and the paper rubbed down on the corners, still a handsome and sound very good copy. An interesting and in some sense iconic book in the Woman Suffrage Movement. Advertised in the March 21, 1891 "Publishers' Weekly" as the first of a new series of "Speakers" - compilations of poetry and prose to be read in public, the book was the product of a reconciliation that was a long time coming within the Movement. In 1869, in a rift caused by disagreements over the issue of African-American male suffrage two competing groups were organized: the American Woman Suffrage Association (AWSA) and the National Woman Suffrage Association (NWSA)Susan B. Three amateur but effective early repairs at the spine, front fly near detached, rubbed, else very good. Calligraphic illustration of a dove incorporating George W. Singiser's name, although most of the leaves are unused, approximately 35 pages have been signed with sentiments, home locations, or other information, all, seemingly part of the Class of 1871 of the Penn State Normal School (now Millersville University) a teachers' college. Perhaps a bit more than half of the signers are woman. Most of the signers are from the middle part of Pennsylvania.

Of the 20 total pieces, 16 of which are catalogs, seven of them are from the C.E. Ward Company in New London, Ohio. Each of the catalogs are illustrated throughout with mostly B/W line illustrations, but a few are in color and at least one contains fabric swatches.
