In the second half of that century Nikifor Vasilyev, Matvei Veretennikov, the Naskov, and other expert Russian cabinet-makers produced lovely pieces of marquetry furniture -- tables, chests of drawers, bureau and escritoires, as well as magnificent parquetry floors for palace halls. There fine furniture stands out for its graceful, unencumbered shape and exquisite color harmony. This work is illustrated with 202 examples in color.
