Descripción:
New York: Columbia Records, 1991. Original matte finish photograph of Bob Dylan by photographer Don Hunstein, shot circa 1960, struck for the first time in 1991 for use as shooting artwork on the cover of the 1991 box set. To our knowledge, the only print struck from the negative. The image of Dylan in the photograph on offer extends substantially beyond what can be seen on the cover of the box set release. Single production annotation, in manuscript pencil, on lower right corner of the mat. Full provenance available. Don Hunstein is perhaps best known for his photograph of Bob Dylan and Suze Rotolo walking in Greenwich Village, used for the cover of the 1963 album "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan." "The Bootleg Series Volumes 1-3" was the first installment in the Dylan bootleg series, a long-term project covering his vast output from 1961 to 1989. The series has become a massive critical and popular success, and as of 2021-20 years later-14 sets have been released, covering Dylan's career from its… Leer más

N.p.: N.p., 1983. Vintage Hüsker Dü setlist, executed in manuscript ink by guitarist Bob Mould, from the June 16, 1982 show at San Francisco's On Broadway Theatre, with a corresponding manuscript ink annotation of "OB 6-16-82" on the lower right corner of the verso. Full provenance available. The setlist features 20 songs from "Land Speed Record" (1982), "In a Free Land" EP (1982), and their forthcoming LP "Everything Falls Apart" (1983), the only exception being "Drug Party," which was recorded live in the early 1980s but not officially released until the 2017 rarity box set "Savage Young Du." The seminal punk/rock band Hüsker Dü formed in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in 1979, with members Bob Mould, Greg Norton, and Grant Hart defining the hardcore scene in the early 1980s with constant touring, breakneck sets, and critical acclaim, quickly garnering a nationwide audience. Like many more ambitious punk banks, Hüsker Dü quickly expanded their sound and in 1985 released the groundbreaking "Zen… Leer más

Descripción:
Wengen, Switzerland: Alpine Films, 1965. Vintage oversize double weight photograph of Orson Welles and John Gielgud on location in Spain for the shooting of "Chimes at Midnight" in 1965. Shot and struck by noted photographer Nicolas Tikhomoroff, with his rubber stamp and the stamp of his Parisian agency, V.I.P., on the verso. "Chimes at Midnight," Welles' third of three legendary Shakespearean adaptations and last masterpiece, is based on his early play "Five Kings," which condensed Shakespeare's War of the Roses cycle into one story. Welles produced the play in New York in 1939 but the opening night, during which Part 1 was performed, was a disaster, and Part 2 was never staged. He revamped the show and revisited it in 1960, again without success. The later production became the basis for this film, in which Welles plays Falstaff. "Chimes at Midnight," as with nearly all of Welles' efforts as a director, was plagued by financial and logistical problems, shot with nearly no budget, and received… Leer más

New York: Edward J. Clode, 1927. First Edition. First Edition. In the first state dust jacket, priced $2.00 and with a blurb for this title on the front flap and an advertisement for Richard H. Watkin's "Half a Clue" on the rear flap. From the collection of Otto Penzler. In the early days of the seminal pulp magazine "Black Mask," writer Carroll John Daly was the first to publish a story in the hard boiled vernacular, virtually inventing the style. He was followed months later by Dashiell Hammett, but for some time remained the magazine's number one selling author. His popularity legendarily changed the magazine's focus from traditional mystery fiction to hard boiled crime fiction. As publishers began to pick up on Daly's popularity, he published his first novel, preceding Hammett's "Red Harvest" by two years. Also the first book to feature Daly's hard boiled private detective Race Williams. Rare in the first-state jacket, with a single auction record listed in Rare Book Hub (Swann, 2011), a much… Leer más

Housed in a (likely hand-sewn) floral cloth-covered portfolio, the script is INSCRIBED by the Hungarian-American feminist and radical socialist screenwriter Ilona Fulop on the title page: "To Mac: / Because You still trust me! / Ilona / Christmas, 1929 / Hollywood, Cal." A unique and attractive item, and probably the only surviving copy of the script. The story of a poor girl driven out of her village when she becomes pregnant by her employer's wealthy fiance, finding refuge working as a maid in a brothel. After her daughter is taken from her, however, she falls into alcoholism and dies.
