Rome, Italy, January 12th, 1952.. 1952.. Good. - Over 280 words typed on his personal 1-3/8 inch high by 8-7/8 inch wide stationery. John Hyde Preston, the author of "Mad Anthony Wayne" and "Revolution 1776" among other books, had sought treatment from Dr. Servadio back in 1948 and the two obviously stayed in touch. In his letter Emilio Servadio writes that "I was particularly pleased to learn that you are in good health, and that you have been working constructively and successfully. I have no doubt that this has been partly due to some good work that we did together; but the presence and assistance of such a splendid feminine figure as you describe it, has certainly been of paramount importance for your well being." Richmond, VA: March 11, 1969., 1969.. Very good. - Typed letter filling two-thirds of an 11-inch high by 8-1/2 inch wide sheet of cream notepaper. Signed "William C. Perdue". Together with a Virginia Pentitentiary mailing envelope and a carbon copy of the letter from Foxe to which Perdue is replying. Perdue's letter is lightly creased around the edges and has been folded three times for mailing. There are 2 staples in the top left corner where the envelope & carbon copy have been attached to Perdue's letter. Very good. Perdue is replying to a letter of encouragement and support from Freudian psychiatrist and criminologist Dr. Arthur N. Foxe, who writes: "I have been mindful of your use of the concept of Criminosis [psychoneurotic behavior taking the form of criminal or antisocial acts]and I have read your article with attention and interest." The edges of the first sheet are a bit darkened & its top edge is lightly chipped. There is a chip out of the top right corner of each sheet with a small piece out where the recipient's reply had been detached. Together with a carbon copy of the reply. Good. Jastrow writes at length to James B. Pond of the Pond Lecture Bureau in New York City, explaining that his post at the University of Wisconsin, Madison limits the number of lectures he can give, and asking if a limited lecture schedule would earn him enough to make the time and travel worth his while.
