Bound in dark red cloth over thin flexible boards with gilt lettering. A handbook size book obviously meant to be carried about while on the job. Interestingly there are three additional hand written dosages at the rear for 'Influenza, Pleurisy, Chronic Cough'. Book with chip at spine edge; covers soiled; moderate wear. Redding & Co. Boston. (Probably 1852 as almanacs were usually published in the preceding year)., 1852 Book size about 2 by 3 1/4 inches with some 32 pages. Basic format is to have an Almanac Month page facing a page of dental information. The almanac appears to have been an advertising device for Dr. Hitchcock of Boston who practiced dentistry there at 127 Court St. An article titled 'The Dental Art' (From Gleason's Pictorial) is reprinted, apparently in its entirety, covering eleven pages and with seven wood block illustrations. Another three pages are devoted to Artificial Teeth and filled teeth. Very interesting look at the skills required to practice dentistry in those far off days.
