Brown leather with gold embossed designs, three raised bands on the spine, gilt-edged pages and a satin ribbon placeholder. There is minor shelf wear and a small, slightly discolored spot on the cover, otherwise clean and unmarked. Publisher's insert laid in.

The pencil sketches by Ben F Wohlberg were specially commissioned for this edition. 418 pages. Deep Brown leatherette hardcover. Note that this series in leatherette did not come with a ribbon place marker. All edges gilt, gilt-stamped decorations on boards, raised bands on spine. Tight, clean copy. Gilt edges lightly rubbed. Otherwise fine. Pages tight.

Full-page illustrations, map, decorative endpapers. A handsome copy with one bookplate on the paste-down end paper and very minor wear on top gilding. Near fine.

1987 hardcover. I cannot attest to this book having a leather binding in spite of statements like the following: "1975 - 1987 All books in the Pulitzer Prize Classics as published by the Franklin Library were bound in full genuine leather with decorative end papers." see https://www.leatherboundtreasure.com/p/franklin-library-pulitzer-prize.html The book appears to be leather but no where in the book can I find it stated, and I am no expert on bindings.. Accordingly I am setting a lower price. It is a beautiful book.
