A fair copy with prior owner's name in ink, early added support for wraps, and staining throughout, though still scarce in miniature.. Miniature. 8pp. In publisher's yellow wraps, which are variant from the UF copy both in color and this copy has a woodcut of a fly on the rear wrap.

Chicago, Ill; Philadelphia, Pa: International Publishing Co, 1898. Very good with some bumping and wear to the publisher's gilt and colored brown cloth boards. Ghosting to the mounted backstrip.. Scarce salesman's sample/dummy, consisting of three pages of notices, title page, preliminaries, sample pages and illustrations of various paginations, followed by one page of publisher's description and six unnumbered, ruled pages for recording subscribers' names. Sample backstrip mounted inside front cover.

New York: American Tract Society, 150 Nassau-Street, 1847. Good with staining throughout, wear to wraps and substantial tear and minor hole not affecting text to rear wrap.. Features several engravings. Likely published between 1854-57 given the Philadelphia address noted on the rear wrapper. 24mo. [2], [3]-16pp. Relatively scarce in the separate offprint.

New York: Collins and Hannay, 1833. Good with some loss to spine and heavy loss to spine label in publisher's red cloth boards.. Scarce printing of Scott's epic poem originally published in 1810. 16mo. [viii], [9]-178pp. Worldcat locates two copies at the time of cataloguing.

New York: Kiggins & Kellogg, 123 & 125 William St, 1856. Very good with some staining to wraps and tasteful prior owner's name to final page.. I never heard of a lazy child on a Christmas morning". A pleasant chapbook with five full-page woodcut illustrations. 32mo. [1], 2-16pp. Scarce with one institution located on Worldcat as of October 2020 holding the imprint with the aforementioned William St. address. AAS dates this imprint to 1856-57. In pictorial wrappers with the "just published" variant.

[Chicago?], 1901. Very good with bumping and wear to the boards and some loss to gilt.. Salesman's dummy, consisting of variously paginated specimen pages and plates, followed by publisher's announcements and a group of ruled leaves for recording subscribers' names (including an actual order penciled in), concluding with photographs of the two versions of the book that could be purchased in texoderm or morocco. Sample of spine binding not present on this copy, and no evidence of same being present. Bound in original light brown cloth with lettering and design stamped in gilt on upper cover. Fair only in quarter leather over marbled boards which are very heavily worn with loss, ink inscriptions to end papers, damp-staining, and foxing throughout.. Early American edition. [Philadelphia]: T.M. Scroggy, Publisher, No. 443 Vine St. below 13th, 1853. Small broadside of a song, sung to the tune of Ben Bolt, of economic depression and societal desperation. Professor Ric N. Caric, in quoting The Paupers as an example in its entirety, suggests that pre-Civil War songs lost the character of men "as demonstrating their independence and good heartedness in the face of dangerous forces" rather "The Paupers represents dependence and degradation as the norm and independent men . . . as being dragged down to the lowest level of the social order. Independence, honor, and respectability were still portrayed as the dominant values, but 'the Paupers' referred to these values primarily to demonstrate their unattainability." Contains a series of lectures discussing the gothic Wells Cathedral. Small 8vo. Tissue guarded frontispiece, xvi, 200pp. Bound without the 42 page catalogue.

Bridgeton [NJ]: James M. Newell, 1838. A good copy in contemporary leather, with substantial rubbing, hinges started, first few leaves loose, foxing throughout, many pages dog-eared, with contemporary and later inscriptions to endpapers, title page verso, ad page, and top edge.. First Edition. Felcone notes that this book compiled all of New Jersey's laws in force, but for the first time arranged them by topic, along with relevant court opinions. Large 8vo. xxiv, 728pp. Felcone 629.

Philadelphia: Globe Bible Publishing Co, 1897. Both are good with heavy wear to the pictorial cloth boards, some staining and grubbiness to the pages.. The Chicago Record's Book for Gold Seekers was rushed into print by the Chicago Record in 1897, to assist those heading for the gold fields. While the book was printed by numerous printers throughout the country during 1897, this particular printing is scarce with only one copy located on Worldcat. Also includes the salesman's dummy, which oddly enough appears more common in institutional holdings than the actual book.

London: William Pickering, 1847. First thus. Leather rubbed, rebound with original boards with some loss to leather. Internally contents are very good with previous owner's name on half title. Overall good plus.. First Pickering edition of these popular 17th century English devotional works, featuring a detailed examination of the ways which lead to a charitable and pure Christian life. A visually appealing volume printed by Charles Whittingham at the Chiswick Press with engraved frontispiece, woodcut initial letters, and the use of an old face font which Whittingham introduced in 1843. 8vo.
